Looks like a fishermans heaven guys, im from Ireland and a life long fisherman, salmon fishing is banned its a total joke, is there much work on boats in alaska for deckhands? myself and my brother are thinking of heading over to find deckhand jobs, both fishing all our lives, gillnetting, driftnetting, trawling, potting etc. is there any good job sites for fishermen?

On that net we used a rolling bunt. I don't know the exact dimensions off the top of my head. I'm on a boat now that uses the triangle, witch is probably what you used. I guess that sounds about right.

How big is your rolling strip?and How many rolls do you usually take in on a good set? Back in the late 90's when I fished last, on a good set we'd roll-in 5 to 7 times.If I recall correctly each roll was 5000lbs. (its been a long time so maybe im wrong on that #)

Great vid Hollis. I fished on the Aldebaran. im also the skiff man, represent crazzy! I guess there is some video of us in nasty weather with a roll up. supposedly the Sea Gypsy has that video, and Amber Dawn got vid of the Adlebaran sinking off of Bold Island on Aug 17 2007. Get to Seattle by the middle of May. Don't give up easy. I pounded the docks for four whole days before I found my boat. I'll be out there around the 20th unless I drive out. Keep in touch, if I'm out there I'll point you towards some good boats.

We (fishermen) work along side alaska's fish and game. They count salmon making it upstream to spawn and give us openings based on what they find.  We fish based on the size of the run. If we did not fish the streams would be overcrowded. There is only so much oxygen in a stream. An overcrowded stream kills the salmon before they can spawn. Inturn killing our industry. If your going to act like a green asshole, atleast get your information right.

Hawaii is awsome. Just tryin to get a tan. I bought a underwater video camera and am trying to take video of the fish underwater I got some but the waves have been really big and have been washing the fish away. You guys catchin anything up there?

Sounds fun. We're making some money up here. 22 thousand last week and 17 this week. At 85 cents a pound theres not much to complain about. A couple of guys are slaughtering fish. The Wonderland had 42 monday. It a good time here in Seattle though. When are you coming back?
