Dear Person Below, question FAO yourselves. What's the point of spending much time examining thoughts or deluding yourself that you can adjust them (ie cbt) With experience one can fully realise the nonsense of this delusion. Picture an iceberg - top above water contains thoughts... underwater is the big iceberg which contains... {add next bit yourself}. Best wishes
Assertiveness training. When I look up assertiveness, it has the word aggressive in the definition. Has anyone heard of NVC? Nonviolent Communication by Dr Marshall Rosenberg. NVC is such an effective tool for this kind of thing.
There's a small and excellent online depression support group called Depression Hangout that is always open to anyone who is struggling with mental health problems (not just depression). It's run in its own chaotic way by its members who meet regularly in the chat room and it's a great place to seek and provide help and support, make new friends and even just have a laugh. (We all need that too!) To join just go to depressionhangout-dot-blogspot-dot-com.
CBT is a load of bull. I've lost count of how many times i've self harmed or overdosed, or tried to hang myself or whatever, nothing works. Nobody can help me, i know that now. I've been through so many frickin psychologists that chat shit.
@Katie13859 The problem is in our believe system, humans forgot who they are and why they are in this world. Tnx to the media we get brainwashed allday with negative subliminal crap wich keeps us away from understanding who we are
Just to let you know, a study by Prof King ( The King Study 2000 in the UK ) compared Peson Centred Counselling and CBT for Depression. Both came out as Equal, with the Person Centred approach having a higher satisfaction rating. In all compariticate studies all therapys, when directly compared all come out equal ! Otherwise this is an intersting video !
There is no problem with tearfulness, but when it is excessive and overbearing on you, and YOU wish help due to your depression, you can have that help. Tearfulness is one symptom of depression. But tearfulness by itself is not a disorder, it is a normal response to internal/external stimuli.
I cry, you cry, people cry. Depends what happend and how much it bugs you sir.
A Very good viseo, i'm glad to see a psychologist who understands that medication is also helpful. Som many psychologists despise medication (probably because they can't prescribe) when both the CBT and medication saved my life.
I'm no clinician but as speaking as one who has weathered a lousy day or two that sounds more like anxiety or panic disorder. Don't hesitate to seek treatment. Losing yrs. of your life ain't fun.
@onefinalhit i have recovered from depression & am now a qualified psychologist. drop me a message if u want my details for some emotional support (free of charge). hope u get well soon.
Read Explaining colours to a blind man. Not only will it enlighten many as to what living with a mental illness is like, it also gives comfort to those sufferers who think there is no hope and that they are alone. It is very informative, sometimes shocking but also very funny in parts. All in all, a good read and highly recommended

@leapsplashafrog CBT isn't abouty controlling you thoughts it is about examining your thoughts to see if they are irrational and distorted.

I just sit in my room all day, everyday. I find it hard to go outside. I feel like people are laughing at me
dazzz007 2 years ago
Pay more attention to that. Are they really laughing at you? and if someone was, do you care?
Did you ever feel that way as a child in your family? You can feel sad about that.

I wonder if 'depression' is specific to 'western' society. Has there been any studies that question that correlation?
