Aren't Corn snakes capable of eating small rats aswell, not only adult mice as they do tend to grow to around or over 1½ meters. My current corn snake is about 2½ years old, hes a little over 1m in length and already at age 1½ he was able to eat adult mice and he's grown so much in the past year.
Instead of feeding one large prey, can we just feed multiple smaller prey? Like three adult mice as opposed to one rabbit? And also do they accept fish? Much nicer to find in the freezer then mice.
I have a question...: Can I feed a snake ONLY frozen food? e.i frozen mice? What if and i know this sounds stupid but what if i feel sorry for the mice and dont want them to be alive when the snake eats it?
@frankenstein04 Yes. I believe it's also better feeding the snake only frozen food because it eliminates the risk of the snake being injured by the mouse.
I like the slower movement of the python versus the corn snake. If I had a snake I wouldn't be interested in touching it all the time, so I'm ok with a snake that doesn't like handling as much. Are there any other smallish pythons or boas besides that spotted one?
can u feed a corn snake, kingsnake, or milk snake something like feeder fish, while its a baby can i feed it crickets. what else can i feed it other than mice/rats or any bird haha. PLEASE ANSWER
@djbiggyb as long as you keep it in its cage and dont let your poodle mess with it or get it angry you will have two alive and healrhy and non eaten pets
@AskewPrem 10 gallon for a baby, maybe even 20 gallon then you won't have to move up to a bigger one as soon. I have mine in a 35 gallon but that's just because I already had the tank, you'd need a lot of extra hides and it's really not advised unless you already have one laying around.
i have a question. live in London Ontario Canada. my room is in the basement. and its pretty cold down here. would that do something with bad with the snake. or would the tank and all its condiments keep the snake warm?
I have a corn snake and you have to have a heating pad on one side that should be at 82-86 degrees, preferably 85. And the other side(cold side) around room temp or 70-75 I believe. If you basement is particularily cold you might consider a heat lamp on the cold side kept really low, just to heat it within the 70s range. I'm not a huge expert though and I only know about cornsnakes so look at some caresheets online (:
that isent a full grown spotted python? Would prefer to see the adults animals....spotted pythons looks very good but read that thet can be a bit agressive:(
hey, i wanted to get a ball pythn but my boyfriend is sooo scared of rats and mice ...what else could i possible feed it (when it gets bigger) besides rats mice or rabbits...or are those the only things
@xXxmadegirl7xXx not a good idea rats and mice are very good for snakes because they are generally there main prey in the wild in my opinon just dont feed ur snake when ur boyfriends around?
@xXxmadegirl7xXx That's all you can feed it. Not rabbits though because I don't think ball pythons get that big. Also, just feed it frozen/thawed food and not live so even if you're boyfriend is around the animals will already be dead. If he really doesn't like it tell him to leave the room when you feed it.
what if you are goning to catch a snake as a pet just like a garden snake or black snake what should i feed it and what do i need to buy other than a fish tank and what type of lid should the cage have.
@paintballer9608 if you can, just get a screen lid and put a weight on top, they will eat anything from minnows(if you have a deep enough water dish) too earthworms too even pinky mice(only experience with garter)
@paintballer9608 I wouldn't advise catching one outside, they're not very healthy and can be more agressive. If you really want too though look up some caresheets online.
yes there legal i think u need some kinda document though and there called hots and you have to go to a breeder or something try viperkeeper hes here on youtube he can tell you what you need to know
depends on your state location and on the permits that you can get your hands on. most places won't let get an exotic pet license if your just getting them as pets.
think king cobras are ilegal to keep in most countries, but you can keep some poisonous snakes. but i dont think you should be starting out with these kinds of snakes. you can check online which snakes youre allowed to keep where you live. theres different laws for different countries/states and even some cities.
there are belt snakes that eat small fish and worms, there are also a few that eat snails and insects, which dont get to big, but ratsnakes, corns, boa and pythons will eat mice and bigger

@metarra yes the ball python is a great snake and is about the size of the spotted python. It doesnt have to be handled if you dont want too.
