In the last part author claims laser sensor below the tables mounted above the lanes, but I guess those are infrared lamps for the license-plate recognition camera system.

first measurement is the opposite lane showing spread radiation only, second measurement is in the lane controlled by the fixed radar , Ka band.
Range of front is 1242m, and back is 320m (radar box is directed opposite the vehicle!)
