LDS people are Christian. Period. We believe in Christ, we preach of Christ, we hope in Christ and we know that it is only because of the atonement of Christ that we can be saved.
We know that nothing that anyone of us can do to save ourselves. It is only by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that we can be saved. If we did not have Christ in our lives, we know that we would be lost.

not everyone follows Catholic beliefs and yet they are Christians. Not everyone follows Protestant belief and yet they are Christian. Christians are people who believed Christ died on the cross for their sins. While there may be offshoots you do not agree with, or do not agree with you, the very heart of Christian is Jesus Christ.

If you have a hard time with God calling other churches not His own, an abomination or a corruption of what He established (prophets and apostles, etc), then surely you have a problem with the Old Testament where God commands the Children of Israel to slay men, women and children of the Amalekites in 1 Samuel 15? It talks about just one tribe who later split off actually in when they land in the Americas they say that there were others there before them. LDS people are Christian. Period. We believe in Christ, we preach of Christ, we hope in Christ and we know that it is only because of the atonement of Christ that we can be saved.
We know that nothing that anyone of us can do to save ourselves. It is only by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that we can be saved. If we did not have Christ in our lives, we know that we would be lost.
I am so happy to have Christ in my life and to know that by his eternal sacrifice, I can live with God again.

The bible states clearly that the is only one God - the BOM in Alma 11:28 agrees - but your doctrine embraces the idea that god is just one god in an ongoing pantheon. Which is correct? The idea of "trinity" starts with Genesis 1:1 - the term used is a plural noun. Gen 1:26 - elohiym is a uni-plural noun - modern english equivalents are group or family. John 10:30 - "I and my Father are one". Three distinctltly seperate persons are defined in the above scriptures. I note you have answered none of my questions.

Someone who believes in the trinity is called a trinitarian. Someone who believes Christ is their Savior and follows his teachings is a Christian, which I do and am. Jesus consistantly called the religious leaders of his time a bunch of hypocrites and brood of vipers - whitewashed tombs etc. WRT your point about "not hurting anyone", of course following a bumch of lies masquerading as the "one true" religion is harmful - how can it not be?

To do what you are suggesting in finding a religion that "you are happy with" is to willfully ignore Jesus' statement regarding seeking the Kingdom of God first.
We have an obligation to seek the Truth & the Truth is singular - it is not a philisophical or religious construct - Jesus IS the Truth.

Jesus criticized the established religion. Jesus didn't come to establish a Church. He came to reveal the Truth to us, to be scorned, denied, and hated even unto death, and then to rise again to new life.
The Bible says that no one is good, not even one. And the Bible warns us repeatedly to not be deceived, even that anyone preaching a different Gospel will be eternally condemned.

I don't think this guy has any clue what a true Christian is. He has missed the whole point of Christianity. Love is the greatest of all God's gifts. God is love. This guy doesn't know what love or God is. Did Christ denounce the sinners, liars and the hypocrites, yes he did, but he also loved them, prayed for them, and forgave them-- EVEN for killing him. He taught his disciples to love your enemies, pray for those who despitefully use you and forgive others their trespasses.

I just feel that, being LDS, you can also come closer to Christ! Yes, many leaders push us to do things, and when we do it when we aren't ready, we might not gain as much from it. That's why, Reading the Word of God, attending church, serving others is all good, but when we do it, we should try to do it because we want to, not cause others tell us too! how will we gain the knowledge that is is good if we don't? occasionally we must step outside our comfort zone and do it on our own, but we Grow!

@hammer45able I think there is truth out there, and I believe the Book of Mormon has truth as well. That is why I study both, the Bible and the Book of Mormon, along with the Pearl of Great Price, and the Doctrine and Covenants. To me, these are inspired words of God. You may not believe it, and that is alright. But what I study and learn makes me happy and brings me closer to God.

If you have a hard time with God calling other churches not His own, an abomination or a corruption of what He established (prophets and apostles, etc), then surely you have a problem with the Old Testament where God commands the Children of Israel to slay men, women and children of the Amalekites in 1 Samuel 15? That, I think, is your issue. You conditionally listen to God.

But just as you have a problem with modern revelation, there are plenty of atheists today that have a problem with your ANCIENT revelation. Shawn has no understanding of the Bible that we read. He says Jesus was rude and mean to people and uses that as his excuse to be rude and mean and anti mormon. But what Shawn fails to realize is that, the Scribes and Pharisees that Jesus was speaking to were actively trying to get him, kill him.
Now figure this out. Are the Mormons trying to kill Shawn, and this is why he says mean and rude things? I don't get his analogy at all, because its a BAD analogy.

Good comment Shawn, "there may be Mormons who are Christian, but Mormonism is light years away from Biblical Christianity." Mormons may not want to realize that it is not by the things we do that we are saved. It is not enough to say I believe in Christ because I have heard about Him or been told all my life He is there. Faith in Christ comes from continual witness, (and your acknowlegment of the witnesses) received by the Power of the Holy Ghost when you seek to hear His word.

What's happening here is people are convincing themselves of something that is simply not true. Just because something is not explicitly contained in the Bible does not mean it is not true. The Bible is not the container of all things true. Science is not in the Bible, for instance. You just can't say that!

The Book of Mormon doesnt talk about every tribe and people in America. It talks about just one tribe who later split off actually in when they land in the Americas they say that there were others there before them. You will find stacks of evidence to support the bible and none for your book of mormon but then again its all about faith for you people and not evidence so why waste my time. @wachnathan Look, when it comes to languages, these are the languages that are roughly 93% almost 100% similarities&including cultures&traditions: are hebrew, arab, asian, native american&all polynesian, all islands of the pacific; most of the native american languages were lost, when the europeans colonized america, europeans named most of the cities in european languages like spanish, portugese, italian, english etc. we polynesians,(island people) r the true desendants of the native americans.
