It's pretty good. I like the original better, though. There really should've been a build up when Jack's mood improves and he starts ranting, like in the original. Without that increase in the power of the melody to accompany that of the lyrics, it just falls flat.

I agree. It needs a balance of sounding recognizable to the original, so it brings that feeling of recognition/nostalgia to the listener, while still bringing something original and new to the song, to make it worth listening to over the original in the first place.
