  • JT do you plan on doing a review on the GI .45 1911.

  • @InsertGun ...no..negative...not anytime soon.

  • Hey, helizz. I'm from the state of Oklahoma, turning 18 in January 2011 and i plan on purchasing an m1911 (It's legal for 18 year olds to own handguns in the state of Oklahoma) Pretty interested in History and i love the classic m1911. Thinking of buying the M1911 GI .45. Do you have any suggestions for a first time buyer? maybe an m1911 suggestion?

  • @OkieConservative ...the G.I. model is a good place to start. i got mine here in Hawaii for about $530 but, for a couple hundred more you could get the "loaded" model seen in the video next to the G.I.

It has all the "bells and whistles" as my Kimber Warrior at half the price. I remember in the old days you would start off on a revolver but, I don't know your training and experience. So get what works for you...JT

  • Springfields are nice...with a little gunsmithing...I feel like Kimber, despite the price, is a real winner, I love the full size cdp 2, my first handgun, and still favorite.

  • hey jt, ever hear about the thunderbolt 1911? if you have do you know if its any good?

  • @strykersigma ...sorry never heard of it until now. Ran a search in google and read in a forum that it was made in the Phillipines in the same factory as the Rock Island Armory 1911s.

Have heard the RIA 1911s are reliable. Sorry I wasn't much help.

  • no offense...but the way you talk sounds...off, you sound like someone I would be suspicous of. Like if I was in bank and your in the line next to me...just saying

  • @D3VENSTATION ...What I'm a nice guy...lol! No really I'm NOT at least that's what some people say...lol!

  • Was looking into buying the 1911 model GI the one on the right on your video. The specs says it has a low profile sights. Do you have any issues aligning or trying to find the sights when aquiring the target?

  • @TheHmongSparta...if low profile means "fixed Miltary-type sights that's what it has...it's patterned after the old WWII version. And I neve fired my G.I. 1911.

  • i love this guy fucking real!

  • sweet guns fluffey bunny rounds tree hugers lol

  • Red nicks of the world lets unite and kill all tree hugers! with are guns!

  • Lol @ the tree huggers.

  • Awesome review. I added ctc grips and a trigger job to my GI. Love it. Very much like the loaded. Thanks and kudos for not projecting your personal imput and doing a great job relaying the facts. To each his own.

  • fluffy bunny rounds.. haha nice..

  • just spent along time watchin your vids and now are wondering how many weapons do you actually have?

  • @mattjones73 ...well a lot...over 200 knives (fixed/folders) and about (3) dozen firearms (handguns/rifles/shotguns)...maybe more...lol!

Not to mention a whole bunch or other toys to inflict pain or death...comtech stinger IIs, batons, pepper sprays, etc...).

    thanks for watching...JT

  • @HELLZZARMY well if anything happens like in random films about appocalypse or anythin, i no where im comin to hide out lol

  • @HELLZZARMY I've been watching for a long time and never thought to ask....where do you keep all these weapons? coming up on 6 months now until I buy a Springfield 1911-A1 Loaded, if I can find one that is.

  • @cfeder45 ...gun safes and wherever...

  • i like these.It's classic.But still i prefer Beretta M92 better.

  • When I listen to your review, I imagine Steven Segal talking. :)

  • @cowboylarge ...Thanks...you're not the 1st person to say that.

  • @cowboylarge HA HA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!

  • You should try the Kimber factory mag I think it is but it works and locks up great on the last shot.

  • Are those baseplates removeable?

  • @JohnnyMurata ...10-4...for cleaning and maintenance...

  • @HELLZZARMY

What I mean is that the baseplates are removeable for concealed.

  • @JohnnyMurata ...10-4...you can remove the black polymer base plates and run all steel magazines...

  • @HELLZZARMY

    Cool. I like that gun.

  • @JohnnyMurata DOES THE MIL SPEC HAVE A LOADED ROUND INDICATER ON IT ?

  • Is your Loaded the parkerized one with night sights?

  • @2238945gbs ...10-4.

  • 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

  • Do you prefer a novak mag over a Mec gar mag?

And what Magazine is your favorite? im assuming the kim pro tac mag..

  • @NickPech ...I use to use Mecgar mags (17 rnd) when I carried my S&W 5906 (9mm) a lot...so I know they're reliable.

Didn't use a Novak mag until I started carrying 1911s a lot. Novaks are good too ...don't have a bias either way.

But, yeah I guess Kimber KimPro Tac mags are my favorite since I got so many of them...(not all a shown) lol!

  • @HELLZZARMY Thanks for the reply, I just have one other question for you.

Do you like your springfield mil spec, or ur loaded model better?

  • @NickPech ...The "Fully Loaded' is more my carry gun...bought the G.I. model because it was so inexpensive and a great representation of the WWII version...

  • Oh! you use a flip camera! lol, saw it in the reflection of ur cam..

  • @stealthbeast ...It's a good video camera...moved up to a Flip Min HD...and now the Flip Slide...

  • My favourite handgun ever made !

  • @guitarbum722...all the magazines seen in this video are after-market.

Most are KIMBER KimPro Tac Mags and the one in the left gun is a NOVAKS...both are awesome magazines.

Others I use are Wilson Combat, Chip McCormick, and Mecgar. Check your local gunshop, internet, etc. Buy different ones and see how they work for you.

  • two beauties.. i bought a 45 cuz i heard that the slugs bigger..tupac

  • nice guns, especially the fully loaded. good presentation, I don't know what the other guy's talking about. I do agree, don't drop the slide on an empty chamber, ease it in like a first date.

  • Dude......your review is practically worthless. And, I would recommend dropping your slide like that when your gun is empty.

  • thanks for your ABSOLUTELY worthless opinion...lol!

  • id like c;loser look at those gi sights.....

  • lol, dude you must be rich, you have an effin armoury in your house lol

  • So watch some @hickok45 videos... He got more armory than the whole U.S. army...

  • Cool vid, nice guns, I'm thinking of picking up the GI or Mil-Spec Springfield in the coming week.

  • Nice guns!

You sound a little tiny bit like Private Pyle, don't ya think? No offence :o)

  • Start checking out the new load from Winchester-- the PDX1. They say it is designed as a replacement to the SXT bullet!

  • you must watch that punisher movie alot to memorize that quote lol. good vid.

  • i wouldnt recommend dropping your slide like that in the gi it can damage the extractor. its made to have a round in the mag before its dropped . i like my gi since i was gong to customize it any how why pay for the bells and whistles when im gona change it anyhow.

  • Great video sir

  • thanks...

  • Glad to be of service.

  • why do you sound like steven seagal? lol

  • That's how I talk...I sound like me...lol!

  • The main difference is the older version (G.I. model) doesn't have a guide rod.

Next as the term "fully loaded" the 1911-A1 on the left indicates...it has all the custom features...trigger, hammer, etc...

check out Springfield Armory's web site and info in the side-bar.

    G.I model ran me $529.00

    "Fully Loaded" $769.00

  • did you go on a shooting rampage shortly after you produced this video. i'm only ask because the tone of your voice. LoL

  • no...negative...this is how I speak when I'm calm and relaxed?

  • Fluffy bunny rounds lol I like that brother !! haha

  • is there really much difference in terms of accuracy between these two in the vid?

  • Like night and day. the G.I. version is modeled after an old design...ex: no guide rod, no custom features just look at some of the specs in the sider-bar ...however, still a good combat firearm.

the Springfield 1911-A1 "fully loaded" has all the bells and whistles my Kimber Warrior has at half the price.

  • I'm shopping for a 1911 since I sold my springfield last feb. How is the Kimber warrior fair against lets say the SA operator? I got to hold a warrior at a local gun shop today and I liked it, but the price is kinda holding me back. I haven't asked if they can order an operator for me, might have to ask.

  • Kimbers shoot great...

the question you should ask is how does the Springfield "fully loaded" hold up against a Kimber.

My response is it shoots as well and has all the bells and whistles at half the price...

  • You sound like you started smoking in the womb.

  • never smoked...unless you count...ah scrarch that...lol!

  • Cool vid man.

  • i have a question maybe you could help me with. i got a springfield model 1911-a1. but its not new, it appears old -not ww2 old. its blued on the sides of the frame and slide but parkarized on the top and bottom of the slide and frame. it has the three dot sites that look to me like stock. but has the berreta m9 style skeleton hammer and a differnt looking beaver tail. i haven't seen one like mine- you know any websites where i could get some infromation on it? that would be great. thanks,

  • check out Springfield Armory website...

  • since it seems like you like SA .45s, do you have any experience with the Operator?

  • that's the gun I want to get eventually...

  • same here, i want to get a sig p229r as well, i keep wrestling between which one to get first. as much as i want the SA, i think im going to go with the sig since it will be my CCW.

  • I carry one everyday, did you have any questions about it.

  • didnt notice the pidgin until 30 secs in. howzit.

  • cool...man.

  • I still have 150 .45 Black Talons.

  • dude we got the same guns man i just got the loaded 1911 same as yours. and the gi model

  • cool...

  • Hey JT.

I was wondering if you know anything about 1911 .22 Conversion kits. I'm thinking about picking one up to get cheaper trigger time ammo-wise but still using the same firearm. I think Kimber makes a good one but I'm still looking around. Thanks

  • sorry no...no experience with conversion kits...

  • thanks anyway

  • I have the .22 Kimber conversion, its nice I like it.

  • I have had some experience w/ the Kimber conversions, both from using them and selling them. I don't sell them anymore. They are fun, but very sensitive. Also, the slide doesn't lock back after the last shot. Check out Advantage Arms. It locks open and is less picky. They are slow to get, but very good.

  • Is this Steven Seagal ?

  • No...lol! But, I wish I had his Aikido skills...

  • wow you really do sound like steven seagal! You also sound like you have a hawaiian accent, where are you from? i'm thinking about picking up the gi as my first handgun, have you experienced any "hammer bite"?

  • check my profile...and never fired my Springfield G.I. .45

  • wow your actually from hawaii, thats awesome! Why haven't you fired it? Do you just keep it as a collectors item?

  • yeah I have a lot of other firearms...use mostly Glocks...

  • Love that Mil Spec GI. Those Talons are nice. I've seen them pop up from time to time but usually they are expensive..

  • thanks...

  • my current AO is Hawaii...normally I would just go to any gun shop but, since obama...ammo is scare at times.

But, my buddy at Magnum Firearms orders ammo by the year not the month...so he still has a lot in supply.

sorry...I don't know about your neck of the woods...

  • Hellarmy,

Its way too funny that you and I have the same taste in weaponry. I just got a new Springfield Armory Mil-Spec that I am working on to make it into a USMC MEU SOC type pistol. I have already started the process with new Trigger, Hammer, Sear, disconnector and since I messed up the factory thumb safety I have an extended Tactical Thumb safety on the way as well. Springfield makes a very good pistol. I too have Winchester Black Talon in my 1911 both the regular and +P type.

  • "Great minds"...huh...

  • Any tips on shooting the GI .45? Just picked up a Springfield GI 45 and had a hell of a time, seemed to be shooting all over at 15 yards with Winchester rounds

  • sorry no tips...as stated earlier haven't shot my G.I. .45 and don't plan to.

How about basics...stance, grip, breathing, sight picture, etc...

  • Start out with 230 grain ball. I don't know if remington still makes the "UMC" yellow box stuff but my Para-ord loved it...

I shoot a modified weaver stance. My right arm is straight, my left hand wrapped around my right. Place your feet at about a 45 degree angle with your left foot slightly ahead of your left shoulder.

Alot of 1911s are fairly loose from the factory. Just take it to a gunsmith and tell him what the problem is...

  • the Black Talon when they are shot they mushroom and there are sharp poins the cut the parametics gloves and they worry they will get Aids the new ammo they are not as sharp as the Black Talons but still mushroom and do the same damage and are good for self defense protection so they came out with new new ammo just as good because of the rules they put on ammo manufactures

  • Hi HELL. Same Exact Thing - thats good. Anyway, how many rounds do you have thru the GI model? What do you think of it's accuracy? I want one only in OD Armory Coat. Do you remember if this was an Army issue finish?? I don't. I'd appreciate swaping information. I stick to 1911's that are authentic - just as they came out of the box. I've gotten into too much trouble making changes. Need info on pieces I have just ask and if I can be of service - you got it. Thank You Sir. Sincerely, JAMES.

  • My G.I. model has never been fired...about a 1000 rounds throught the 1911-A1 "fully loaded" model...shoots great.

G.I. model has that parkerized finish...I don't think they had that back in WWII...not sure...but, I thinnk Springfield made it as authentic as they could.

  • your voice sounds pretty hardcore

  • Some fine 1911's, I have a Loaded model that's the parkerized finish and it is really sweet. One independent gun test magazine did some tests or the Springfield models which tended to be very accurate out of the box.

  • Fluffy Bunny rounds. I love it and you are right. Now that you have had these two .45's for a while which do you prefer and why?

  • Love the 1911-A1 "fully loaded" it's a tack driver...haven't fired the G.I. model.

  • why does 1st 1911 buttom piston sorta thing under the barrel not stick out but the 2nd one does?.... sorry i dont know wat the piston thing is called

  • Designed differently...it doesn't have a guide rod...

  • why would they do that?why not keep the gun the same? does it make a difference in performance?

  • Well I no expert but, remember his is patterned after the WWII version G.I.s used to carry into battle. So this was tribute to that era.

Now since then improvements, advancements, and modifications have come along. I don't build them I just know how to use them.

Mordern versions of .45s still make it that way as well as with a guide rod. There are pros and cons I'm sure. Like I said I'm no expert...

  • The first 1911 is a "standard" model with a spring held inside the slide by a "cap" that is held in the slide by the barrel bushing. This was designed by John Browning back in 1905 (ish)

The second 1911 (with the high profile, 3 dot sights) use a full length guide rod to keep the spring from binding. It also adds weight to the muzzle of the pistol so felt recoil is reduced a bit. Either system is fine so long as the all the pieces fit together properly.

    "Semper Paratus"

  • Hi Whitehorze. I appreciate the info you left at HELLZARMY 1911's vids. Whenever I try to modify my 1911's I get into trouble. Or I buy used guns that look new but have problems. I try to add full length rods and have feeding/ejecting problems - even a shokbuff gives me headachs. My favorite 1911 is the Springfield Armory. It shoots the best for me. It's better for me that Colt, Wilson combat, Even Kimber. I just like the simple desige of the short guide rod. Thank You. Sincerely, JAMES.

  • Are the sights on the GI difficult to use?

  • Haven't shot my G.I . 45 but, have shot guns with fixed old type sights...so my answer would be no it's not hard..

Say it's your gun you zero in at 25 yards (3X , ex; 3 magazines) aiming center mass, proper sight alignment, stance, breathing, etc...examine your groupings. If your rounds are to high or to the right adjust your aim accordingly.

  • gi .45 nice. can you tell me where you got them mags at.

  • these guns come with blued (7) round mags. I purchased the Kimber KimPro (8-round) Tac-Mags seen in the video from my friends gunshop.

the (1) mag in the 1911-A1 is a Novaks from my Sig GSR Revolution 1911 .45 acp.

they cost about $25.00 here in Hawaii. It's probably cheaper in the mailand or from their website.

  • did they have any fiting problems, or did they just go right in?

  • No problem...1911 .45 mags are universal...just the Wilson, Novaks, and Kimber are of better quality and a little more expensive.

  • As he says in the vid - they're Kimber ProTech 8rd mags. I own a Springfield custom 1911 "NRA Armed Citizen" model (limited production a few years back), and bought a couple of "Wilson Combat" 8rd mags for it. Both types of mags will run you about $30...

  • I have the 1911 loaded model nice gun novak sights it shoots great I enjoy my gun i'm sure you do too.

  • 10-4...

  • Nice video's man.

    i love vids on 1911's (and a1'a)

best handguns EVER. in my opinion anyway.

  • 10-4...that 1911-A1 is my favorite...

  • sup. you from hawaii? you sound like it lol. If you are, i'm from makiki. I'm gonna be taking the handgun course hopefully soon so i can start collecting handguns. Just wanted to say wassup.

  • yup...Howzit....

  • Btw the grips on the GI's aren't engraved with anything. They're stamp checkered and the U.S. is stamped into the grip with heat. Nice guns I must say though... I just got mine. Funny how a moly coated bullet is supposedly more lethal than one that isn't... silly liberals. You should really get into reloading if you don't already do it. You seem like the kind of guy who shoots his 1911's a lot.

  • thanks for the info and your insights...

  • those guns are badass man. iv finaley found a video with a springfield armory G.I. gun i want one. keep up the good work. i rate 5* and im goin to sub.

  • thanks man...

  • Enjoyed the video sir, 5 Stars

  • Glad you did...thanks...J.T.

    OSU!!!(KARATE EXPRESSION)

  • "If you want peace prepare for war"? Justify that.

  • I don't have to it's a historical fact! lol!

  • There is no peace without war.

If you let someone walk all over you, then you will never hear the end of it. If you put a stop to it by force, then you have peace.

  • i want that 1911....

    lovely

  • you sound like tai from gear of war haha bad ass. COME JOIN ME!

  • lol!

  • have you thought about the para ordance 14 round 45s? good guns

  • 10-4 of course I have...no spare funds...being on a 3rd marraige will do that to you...lol!

  • i like the fluffy bunny rounds better

  • lol!

  • how many guns do you have total??

  • Now...Now...that would be telling...lol!

But, lets see so far in my videos I've shown:

    AR-15 A3 Heavy Barrel

    (2) AK-47s

    (3) Shotguns

    (4) 1911-type .45s...Kimber, Sig GSR Revolution, (2) Springfields.

    (2) HK 45s

  • Ruger New Blackhawk 45 cowboy gun

    AMT .45 Backup

    Beretta 96

    (4) Glocks

    S&W 5906 (9mm)

    Cobray Mac-11 9mm SMG

    Stay tune...same Bat channel...same Bat time...lol!

  • whats your favorite 1911. Im sure there all good guns but wat do you get the most fun out of shooting

  • Yeah I got HK'S, kIMBER, etc...but, the Spingfield 1911-A1 "Fully Loaded" seen in this video is my favorite to shoot.

  • I wish my 1911 held at least 15 rnds instead of a crappy 7 rnds.Thats only one more round than a revolver might as well use a desert eagle.

  • buy (8) rnd after-market mags and para ordnance makes a 14 +1 .45

it comes down to shot placement...

  • hey will those hi cap para ordnance mags fit a GI springfield 1911?

  • No negative...our Springfields are single stacked mags...Para Ordnance is double stacked way thicker.

  • hi cap para mags are double stacked so the frame is actually bigger. it will not fit in anything traditional 1911 frame. you can get 10 rd mags but it will extend an inch of so past the mag well.

  • i see you like the punisher... and 1911's. go to google and look up punisher 1911 grips. they have black, white, you name it, at a reasonable price. good luck, and i would like to see a vid with them. love the vids... and keep rockin the glock

  • I have both...got 'em last year from Gunbroker com.

I had the ivory one on the Springfield 1911-A1 but, there's not enough grip...prefer the original cocobolo grips I put back on...OSU!!!(KARATE EXPRESSION)

  • I have both...got last year from Gunbroker com. I had the ivory ones on the 1911-A1 but was too smooth. I prefer the original cocobolo grips...better tactile feel...OSU!!!(KARATE EXPRESSION)

  • i just shot that first one yesterday, really nice

  • What is your opinion on the Springfield Armory GI .45 Mill spec? I have been looking for one that closely resembles one that our soldiers in WWII carried.

  • yeah, that' what it was based on. It looks and feels great...just haven't fired it. Probably won't too I got all my other guns. I just bought it to have.

  • Sweet 1911's! I want to get one. but i do not know what brand to get.

  • any well made 1911 is a good choice. It comes done to personal preference.

You got STI in your channel name that's an outstanding firearm company.

  • Thanks dude!!

  • nice 1911's! i have a colt government model and a les baer premier and love em both. ever use any wilson combat mags?

  • Colt and Les Baer...Outstanding!!!

No never used Wilson Mags...got Springfield, Novaks, and Kimber KimPro Tac-Mags.

  • wilson and chip Mccorrmicks are both good, a little pricey but you get what you pay for. i never use the factory mags in either gun cause i don't like metal followers and the springs are cheap, unreliable feeds.

  • thanks for the info...

  • I would so shove a fluffy bunny round at those huggers straight up.

  • lol!

  • The first time I shot a gun was with this GI45 3" barrel. Even though I'm 5'2 and 110lbs, and the gun a bit too big for my hands, it handled very well I was able to hit my target with relative accuracy.

  • OUTSTANDING...I hope you're still shooting, you have to maintain your proficientcy.

And if you can see it, you can hit it. If you can hit it, you can KILL IT...OSU!!!(KARATE EXPRESSION
