Just "found" you and already I am learning SO MUCH. Question please... I am a newbie and a non-tekkie although I feel like I have the ability to learn what ever I put effort in to. So as far as websites are concerned, am I better off learning HTML and CSS from scratch or diving in to and learning all I can using Dreamweaver or Frontpage (or similar)? Yes, you can. You don't have to do YouTube videos, it's just a model I've chosen to use. Many sites get most of their traffic from SEO (search engine optimization) but you should look to expand your portfolio.

Since painting and selling prints of my art work is what I love, how do I keep up with the massive competition our there who are selling art/prints? There is very little savvy art marketing information being shared out there! Art marketing is a tough world to get ahead in. I do have a decent but slow business in retail gifts shop in town, but I am getting old and tired, I have to do something online at home; how do I even start.... any ideas Lisa or you other dear folks???

Start by building a content/information site about a specific aspect of art. Draw in traffic by learning search engine optimization and THEN sell your art once you start getting traffic. There's always a way. It's all about creative marketing.

Oh sweet. Youtube keeps telling me I can associate my adsense account with my youtube account but I didn't know I could create my own banner to my sites.

Not sure if I have the traffic yet but that will change over time.

I saw the ad to your website on top and thought it was an adsense ad but it doesn't say sponsered link as I just watched a different' video of your's that did have the adsense ads on it.

How did you post your own graphic link to your website above the more info panel?

When you are a partner they allow you to place 2 banner ads on your channel. One on your main channel page and another above the info panel. I'm not sure what the requirements are for partner but there is a subscriber and traffic minimum

As a YouTube partner you are allowed to display ads on your channel and you get paid through AdSense. But I'm not seeing any ads on this video.

Either will work because with a blog you can use the category feature to organize your recipes. But with a website you'll have more control over the layout for the most part. I'd probably go with a website.

I agree with you here, Lisa. Another thing with a blog is that it must be constantly updated, whereas with a web site, you can take a break for a month or so, and still keep coming up in the SE's for your top keywords.

Search Engines LOVE blogs because of the often steady, fresh content.

It can be stressful to try to keep coming up with fresh content, day after day, week after week, month after month for blogs.

I would start putting out samples of photos just to show your artistic work, then take a poll with your friends seeing who would buy it... then if there is a substantial amount of yeses i guess you could set up an online shop and set a price then go through paypal.

That's only one of my sites. I have 2 more, a blog and a forum but I could make a living off that one site with 9,000 visitors. It's all about finding affiliate programs that pay you RESIDUAL money like domain and web hosting reselling. If my sites died I could still make a living from my residuals. I don't disclose my income specifics but let's just say I make 5 figures per month.

I don't build websites for people. No time. But honestly that is not a good idea because once someone builds a site for you, you still have to learn how to update and promote it. It's much better to learn on your own like I did so you are not dependent upon someone else for maintentance. There are tons of free tutorials online. You can start with my website. :)
