I am a former atheist who has found the love and grace of our Savior Jesus Christ. This is a brave young man for standing up for what he believes in and for proclaiming the message that everyone needs to hear.
I am an atheist and a strong supporter separation of church and state. The school was wrong. Whatever he wrote on his yearbook page should have been his free expression. I think hes deluded to think that a god is responsible for his success, but he certainly should be allowed to express his delusion. As for the school, it should be their responsibility to understand THE LAW AS IT IS STATED. Though, I'm sure whoever decided to edit the text is well embarrased by now.

I fully support keeping god out of schools, and am an atheist, but it was his personal note, and he should have been allowed to put w/e the hell he wanted in it.

i dont get why, he should be whatever he wants, i dont see why he shouldnt be able to say it. also arrogant. saying how god made him so special and crap like that. think about it why would god love him more than any 1 else dosent sound like god to me

I'm actually not sure what to say about this. I support keeping religion separate from public schools, but here it seems like he should be able to express that in a personal note. It seems like the school could've put some disclaimer in, one of those "this does not represent the view of this school" things.

Public School isn't Sunday School. People Have DIFFERENT VIEWS ON LIFE. But your narrow christian conservative minds want to rule the world and push everyone out. YOU are the ones that are silencing US because we think differently from you. What you personally believe in is your right but STOP IMPOSSING IT ON US. We see "God" every which way we look and it is obviosly the Christian God and you know it. You can keep your bull, we don't want any!!!

My comments do not stem from bigotry, they stem from education, scientific research and a broadminded view of the world and the people in it. 'Prejudiced'? What is it again that you Christ-fuckers love to spout time and again? Oh yes, "Love the sinner, hate the sin"? Sure, I DESPISE religion, but not the people themselves - they can break from their delusions. 'Exposing myself'? Are you implying that we Atheists are hiding or fearful? I am a former atheist who has found the love and grace of our Savior Jesus Christ. This is a brave young man for standing up for what he believes in and for proclaiming the message that everyone needs to hear.

I am an atheist and a strong supporter separation of church and state. The school was wrong. Whatever he wrote on his yearbook page should have been his free expression. I think hes deluded to think that a god is responsible for his success, but he certainly should be allowed to express his delusion. As for the school, it should be their responsibility to understand THE LAW AS IT IS STATED. Though, I'm sure whoever decided to edit the text is well embarrased by now.

i completely agree with what he said. everyone in school uses the LORD'S name in vain, but if you have faith and express faith, you are centered out and you get in trouble. I make an announcement at school and I said, "Learn more about the LORD" and i get in trouble, but please right now repeat the pledge of allegiance right now. "One nation, under God," and they dont get in trouble. so i think that Anthony is a great guy for expressing his fatith and God should be allowed in school

Simply mentioning "God" in school is not violating the separation of church and state at all. The student was just expressing his opinion, and that is his right.
