"Comfortably Numb" partly influenced Hornsby to write "Fortunate Son." When you listen to the two tunes, and how seamlessly the come together, it makes perfect sense. And Bruce had performed with David Gilmour in the past. So it really isn't about taking the song to a new level as much as acknowledging the influence.
Doreen509: Pink Floyd created the song that puts it at the highest level possible. Bruce does not take the song to new levels at all, he is honoring Pink Floyd by covering the song to the best of his ability, but by no means does it exceed the greatness of Pink Floyd. Sorry, I disagree with your comment.
Bruce would never try and out do PF. That would be foolish and impossible. Bruce had his own reasons for writing Fortunate Son and doing both songs together. All good. Hope you are enjoying his new album - ab fab :)
Contrary too the above posters opinion, Pink Floyd are the real masters in this case. However, I respect Bruce's musical genius greatly. And I happen to think this is the only cat who could pull off a cover of this magnitude with any shred of grace. Well done, Bruce. Great vocalist and pianist.
At this show, Bruce played "White-Wheeled Limousine" into another song. I've searched everywhere to find out what it was, but I haven't had any luck. Can anybody help me?
Love this! Not a big Floyd fan, but Hornsby's a master and takes the song to new levels. Seen him many times over the years, always a great experience!
As a huge Floydhead and a lover of Hornsby, I love this medley. He does both songs justice.

No comparison necessary.
