It seems that you don't get it. I have lived In Dallas-Fort Worth for 15 years, and this is the first time weather has been like this. It might be a typical day for some of you, yeah, I don't argue that a lot of people know how to drive in the ice. But we are not use to it, it only snow in North Texas once/twice a year if we are lucky. It snows in the morning and it melts in the afternoon.
I was born and raised in Texas and I can comfortably admit none of us have a clue how to drive in the slick stuff. That is why schools are cancelled for the slightest amount of snow or ice. It is just not worth the trouble. In two or three days this will all be gone.
Come to Michigan,,, There is a way you can drive in this stuff,,, hahahaha, It's always funny watching people that have lost the stills to drive in ice conditions!

Our normal winter blast amounts to 2 maybe 3 inches of snow and it's gone by noon the following day. I am 44 and been here almost my whole life. I have seen 2 winter blasts like this in my lifetime. We cannot justify spending millions of dollars on equipment to deal with this situation.

And I have been driving for telecommunications Co for of 30 years.

@OOOOhYeahx100 that was a different area of texas, texas is a big state we dont all get the same weather, were i was we had 8 inches in dallas they had less. but another difference is there is alot of ice there because it rained and then snowed after so we had 8 inches of snow and under that 2 inches of ice. and 0 degrees is cold dont play it off like 0 degrees is notihng, and that 0 was without the wind factor you dont know winds till you come to texas.

@ItzLilTwin It's miserable here. Salt/sand crews, so far as I can tell, are nonexistent. I don't know what happened to them, but the city, from the looks of it, got rid of them. I have to admit that I haven't driven all that much in the past week, but I have not seen a single road with salt or sand on it. I live by 3 pretty busy streets (probably average 2 cars/sec during the day; all 3 are 2 lanes/way + a turning lane)... one is even labeled a "highway"... NO SALT OR SAND ON ANY OF THEM!

It was snowing and sleeting this morning here in Lousiana, now it is raining and covering everything with a sheet of ice. Day before yesterday it was 78 degrees. I am quite use to the weather changing quickly, but this one was a bit more drastic.
