  • After you watch it a few times you'll notice that she's doing a tutorial on what you came here for in the first place...

  • I just wanted to say I respect you and don't watch your videos simply because you have fantastic boobs, a cute smile and my favorite color hair. Nor do I leave silly comments that would surely get you smiling when you see them along side all the sophomoric quotes from other guys who live in their Mom's basements.

    Jackalicious, Boobies = (1, 1)

    while boobies< 100: print 'The Jackalicious has {0} big boobies'.format(boobies) Jackalicious, Boobies = (boobies, Jackalicious + boobies+)

  • Beatiful boobs Nixie, thanks for the view!!! :D

  • NIxie, you said Mint was your fav now... does Mint have the same software center and as much in it?

  • nice boob

  • >Girl wears a V-neck.

    >Makes an educated and useful video.

    >YouTube commenters: "WHAT A WHORE!"

Another prime example of the YouTube community having the mean age of twelve. Nice one, guys.

  • @DrEvilCop It helps getting views though.

  • why showing your boobs?! we're linux geeks, it doesn't effects us.

    show us your kernel!

    $rm nixie

    $exit

  • sudo apt-get install software_awesome_style

  • I want to lick your butthole.

  • Is it possible to run ubuntu on a laptop that has wifi built in and a webcam? Is there any software and drivers to download for them?

  • @chica476 entirely possible, but depends on the hardware...download the latest Ubuntu 11.10 (or even better, DL 11.04 so you dont have to deal with Unity) and write it to a cd, then run the cd at startup to test-drive the OS without installing and it might say if your wireless will work, and every cam i have tried works to some degree with ubuntu

  • Marry me!!!

  • My favorite Linux app is a toss up between Apache2 and MySQL. (though you can run these on other platforms.)

  • i have ubuntu.live cd

  • be my wife nixie pixie.

  • You are funny... love the end bit... ! LOL

  • Hello, I'm a brand new Ubuntu user and I was wondering if 11.10 has Multi-touch gestures for touchpads like the one on a Samsung Series 7? Thank you!

  • @Pin90able if you can't tell me your computer is IBM pc compatible, don't download linux. you'll thank me never.

  • I love the comments on Nixie Vids. Its usually a nice balanced between comments about "boobs" and nerdy shit thats way over my head.

  • boobootoo...

  • This would rock IF YOU WERE TOPLESS AND/OR SO BRALESS!!!!

  • I love all your videos. Even though Windows dominates the OS market, Linux still has a chance. Eventually, people will turn to freeware.

  • Beautiful girl

  • I use and love Zorin 5 Ultimate on my regular desktop. I know that you like Mint. I had some wireless driver issues with it on an eight year old laptop that I have (1.6 ghz processor, 512 ram) so I've been experimenting with some of the other distros. I know that the wireless driver isn't a problem with plain vanilla Ubuntu but it plays youtube videos rather sluggish. I've tried some of the small distros like DSL and Slitaz. I plan to try Multicore next. Got any ideas?

  • Thank you for the instructions. BTW - you are super HOT!!

  • uboobtu

  • @SinistaN lololol

  • @SinistaN oh for f**k's sake guys....grow up...i mean serio---whoa, boobs!

  • or you know you could just type sudo apt-get install *packagename* in terminal. If you wanna look like a 1337 h4x0rz to all your friends you dont have, type aptitude and browse a CLI alternative to Ubuntu Software Center

  • how sexy linux can be?

  • Ubuntu vs Boobies

  • I want milk from your nice boobies

  • ubuntu has a nice cleavage.

  • GEEK & HOT i think she is from heaven!!:D

  • TITS

  • liking the tits showing bit more thsi time nice

  • Nice rack

  • WTH was that at the end?! Ruin the cool azz 3D ani. was the only cool thing about this video.. ubuntu.....suck!

  • I started using Ubuntu again after using Windows for a few years. I really love Unity, and the Ubuntu Software Centre. It's improved so much since I used it last. Keep up the great videos, Nixie :)

  • Oops. A slight correction: You didn't install "Chrome" (Google's Spyware). You installed 'Chromium' (much better than Chrome).

  • Nice. A nose warmer.

  • nice tits

  • Hi nixie, just one question: why not Fedora Core?

  • @MannaTheBerserk From Fedora 7 on ward it's simply [Fedora] but yeah, I was wondering the same thing! Compared to Ubuntu: Fedora has more free software, better security (SELinux FTW) and is no less user-friendly after a while from installation! And, Fedora has forums much as Ubuntu for solution of common problems so in the long term Fedora should be just as easy to use as Ubuntu and Mint and Zorin so YEAH! Oh, and there's [Add/Remove Software] in Fedora, much like the Ubuntu Software Center!

  • @xXxStellaAquaticaXx Yeah, I totally agree with you. Also, I found Fedora much more powerful and much faster than Ubuntu. I use Fedora 12 on a daily basis because I need it for professional applications (Maya is the main one) and to be honest, installing these apps on Fedora is much easier too. I've tried Ubuntu and used it for a while: yes, it's a good distro but it also seems like both the easy and limited way to go for linux. I don't know, may be it's just me.

  • @MannaTheBerserk Faster how? o_O

  • @Daniel15au It's much more optimized, being a direct derivative of Red Hat (like CentOs for example), it has no bells and whistles bothering the entire system and slowing it down. Instead Fedora is absolutely free of any useless things and so it turns to be faster, more reactive and reliable. Is not a case that Red Hat compatible Linux distros are the ones used by professional companies in the VFX/3D/Animation field.

  • @MannaTheBerserk Have you tried Debian? It doesn't have any bells and whistles either, and is a lot 'clearner' than Ubuntu is (especially if you use XFCE instead of Gnome). I use Debian on all my servers (except one I'm forced to use CentOS on, because cPanel doesn't run on Debian).

  • @Daniel15au Yes I have tried Debian. I have tried so many distros since Linuxe existed (even a copy I installed on my Commodore Amiga, without any installer at all). I have tried Slackware, Debian, SuSe, Ubuntu, Red Hat (when it were free), CentOs, Mandrake and some others I cannot remember the name of. But to be honest, the only ones that never gave me any problems at all were Red Hat, CentOs and Fedora.

  • @MannaTheBerserk (obviously I meant "cleaner" not "clearner"

  • nicesss

  • Uboobies Linux!

  • tits tits tits tits linux tits tits tits ubuntu tits tits tits boom there it is tits tits

  • Why am I watchin Nixie videos ? I don't even use Linux...lol O.o

    :)

  • Wow! Weirdo

  • Impress all your friends... big LOL

  • What's with the cleavage and the weird reaction at the end?

  • Nixie does linux, but who does Nixie

  • Comment removed

  • @geiroffenberg You sir, are stupid.

  • Nixie, install Gentoo or Arch)

  • I cannot stop to watch this video, you r stunning :) and u rock I am a linux user too :)

  • @andrea22borman pity for you! Use windows but remember when something happen to your pc, it will be fixed with help from linux and its so funny to read the stupid comments you write. I can oppose every word you write but it will be hard to explain it to you! sorry if my en isn't the best but i haven't slept from 26+ hours

  • But I don't have Linux on my computer any more. So how would Linux fix it? And even if I did still have Linux,I cannot figure out how to use it. And when I was using it something always went wrong on Linux. And when it does you are stuck. But I don't have these problems on Windows. Andrea Borman.

  • @andrea22borman Ubuntu and some other GNU/Linux distros does not come pre-installed with proprietary 3rd party codecs and drivers because of licensing reason. That maybe the source of the problems you experienced. There is a quick and easy fix for that on my older channel: alexthehaitian

  • @andrea22borman Except you're not stuck, because you can repair any damage using the Live CD or Live USB. The fact of the matter is, you can't just say it doesn't work just because you didn't know how to use it. It's not hard to learn, you can get a grip on the basics in 15 minutes, and there are hundreds of tutorials and instructional articles online to help you. It's just childish to say something doesn't work because you don't know what to do.

  • It is not that simple to install software on Linux. On Windows you can download any software you want from the Internet. But you cannot on Linux. If the software you want is not in the package manager, then you cannot have it. And any software you try to install from the Internet, most of the time won't install. And there is not much choice of software on Linux anyway. And Linux is not user friendly like Windows is. That is why I stay with Windows. Andrea Borman.

  • @andrea22borman

You should recant your statement as you do not know what you're talking about. Any software developed for a unix system can and will install on Linux in any distribution. "Source Code" versions of all *nix based software is available for download. The concept that you need a "Wizard" to install because thats all you were shown is bananas... ./configure, make, make install... doesn't take rocket science.

  • @TheSicinthemind Stop talking CLI to the noobs. You'll scary them away lol

That why I will rarely mention the CLI in my video tutorials, I'll make sure they fall in love with GNU/Linux first. That's when I'll hit them hard with the terminal.

  • @andrea22borman

How many times we had to explain Windows users?

    1. Untar("extract") the source code(mostly .tar.bz2 and .tar.gz)

    2. Open terminal(Never fear from this word, at least in Unix).

    3. CD(change directory via "cd" command) to the extracted folder.

    4. Type and enter for each:

./configure (you can add --prefix=[wanted prefix] if /usr/local doesn't work)

    make

(sudo) make install <- AS ROOT

It seems hard at first time, but there's no GUI app for that(as far as I know), because it's so easy

  • Linux is very difficult to use. Most computer users, including me, cannot use the terminal and most commands don't work. Linux is very slow, and always crashes. And you have to log in with a password, and enter it every time you do something on your own computer. But on Windows you do not have to have a password if you do not want one. In short Linux is one big headache,so you are better off with Windows. Andrea Borman.

  • @andrea22borman

Depends on if you know what you're doing. You don't "have" to use the terminal for Ubuntu. In fact many would argue Ubuntu has dumbed itself down to meet the market of Windows users.

  • @andrea22borman Or you can select Automatic Login from the User Accounts section of Settings... The password is requested for tasks to make sure that, a) You don't accidentally select something you didn't want to happen and mess something up, or b) You leave yourself logged in and leave the room, and someone installs something or messes with something unsafe. It's called security. ^^

  • You might want to direct people on how to install gnome-session-fallback on Oneiric, Since "Ubuntu Classic" is deprecated with that release. Take er easy.

  • You have Dragon Age II on your ubuntu install? Could you do a video on how to do that?

  • Nixie makes Linux sexy.

  • She has great boobs but she needs an agent - she should be doing tech news for some established media organization. She's too good at this stuff, from a variety of perspectives, to just do YouTube videos. I've already named a street, in my neighborhood, in her honor. I mean, at the moment, no one else recognizes the street thing as completely legitimate......but I think the city will come around. Cheers.

  • Nice Boobs!!

  • I could picture Google funding quick TV segments for Linux and using her as the host. - Also she asked what my fav linux application is. I'd have to say vi.

  • Classic look is much better :/

  • I'm more of a chrome guy myself.

    Linux app? Conky!

  • Nice tutorial, Nixie.

However, Ubuntu repositories are not perfect, and some applications need to be installed by adding a repository or a PPA. I think that would be a good idea for another tutorial :p

  • @Jedediah29 Just to give an example: getting the newest and shiniest version of firefox possible you have to enter an Mozilla-PPA... maybe a good example for the criving new-be Linux users :) (I had that problem some time ago... a video rly would have helped)

  • Wow, your launcher is crowded, Nixie! I like mine clean, and removed all the Libre-office stuff except for Writer.

    Can't wait for 11.10!!!

  • Great Tut as always...nice to know you like Dragon Age as well ;)

  • Okay, that's it, I want Nixie...I gotta have 'er...

  • I already know all these stuff, but I just watch it because Nixie does it.

  • Ubuntu is nice but Unity is evil.

  • I want that wallpaper! *-*

  • Or kick it ol' school terminal style

    sudo apt-cache search whatyourlookingfor

Find what you were looking for in the list that pops up highlight it copy it

    sudo apt-get install rightclickpaste

Now you've learned something :) basically the same with yum.

  • @cavibird2005 Or use: sudo aptitude

It is like synaptic package manager for the CLI.

  • why are so hot??? Thanks for all of your videos!

  • Hey:

    Unity + Compiz+ No Lag

    PLEASE !!!

  • You have a very lovely sounding voice, Nixie. It’s very calm and relaxing. You should narrate audio books or something.

  • @RoyalAssassin178 lol... Nixie's voice is very pleasant...

...reminds me of the female Aliens from "Redneck Rampage".

  • beautiful deep cleavage i love it!

  • Thanks a lot dear Nixie

    Viva open source

    Long live Ubuntu ;)

  • You'll need to do another video for the new Ubuntu Software Center :)

  • Nix! Saw the DA shortcut on the desktop. I've have yet to successfully get that to run under wine, despite many people reporting that they can. How'd you manage?!

  • Nixel your still explaining what everybody can figure out within five minutes. "Use the source" - FacultyFan . Yea, make a video about compiling source!!

  • Remove all still removes only packages and dependencies, use to completely uninstall you'll have to use purge

  • Use the source!!!!!

  • ok a briefe question i need help.i setup myself a brand new ubuntu os...and after that i stll cannot connect normally to the internet (i use dual boot win7/ubuntu) any suggestions cuz i really like ubuntu

  • @gigo221 do u use wireless or cable lan?

  • @mprofile i use cable lan,dlink modem

  • @gigo221 Check the upper right corner of the screen for a symbol looking like the connector on your lan cable, this can be used for configuring. Normally your dlink modem should supply an ip (network) address automatically using DHCP, also see help.ubuntu.com/10.04/internet/C/connecting-wired.html

  • @mprofile thx alot m8,but one question how do i found out my dns and ip? from ubuntu

  • @gigo221 I am now behind my Windows PC at work, but a method that always works is: 1. open a terminal screen 2. typ in ifconfig 3. look for "lan connection"

  • @gigo221 How do You get Your internet connection on Win7? What machine do You use ? More info will help us help You ;)

  • i think the launcher-look is HORRIBLE. I'm using the latest ubuntu with the Mint theme :-) in classic mode. Looks great.

  • How do you create desktop icons? What if i want a chrome icon on my desktop? how do i put it there?

  • Comment removed

  • @Kwakobo

right click on your desktop and then choose create launcher.

For example, if you want firefox, choose "application" from dropdown menu, type name: firefox , command: firefox, comment: whatever you want.

Then hit ok and that's it :)

and those nixie's game icons were placed automatically when she installed those games through wine or playonlinux...

  • My favorite app?

    Ubuntu Software Centre........ duh!

  • Classic look is where it's at. Unity is such a waste of screen real-estate.

  • @wwwShadow7 I share you opinion

  • gah! too complicated lol

  • My favorite GNU/Linux application is - byzanz-record.

It records desktop activiry and can export it into .GIF for being a dick in desktop threads on forums and chans.

  • You should show how to install Gnome 3 and other environments.

  • I love your videos Nixie!

  • what desktop it that?

  • I like your shirt.

  • Hmm, I have another channel that I am going to do Linux videos on. Don't worry, I am not stealing your idea. ;-) I have an idea, but I'm not going to tell anyone because I don't want anyone to steal my idea. Any advice on intros? Intros are all I need right now. Any Linux software that does intros easily, or am I going to have to use something on Windows?

  • Is it possible to change the window manager for the Unity desktop without losing the sidebar? I like the UI, but hate compiz because it's slow and crashes often. I'd rather have OpenBox.

My most recent 'favourite' application is Kate. It's a text editor like gEdit, but has more (and better) options. For instance, it has automatic indentation and bracket highlighting. Great for scripting PHP and Python.

  • Even though your follow base/ subscribers is small you have dedicated followers. Please keep the ubuntu videos comming :)

  • love that wallpaper, where did you get it from?

  • lol tits.

I promised I would not masturbate.

  • why you show for us your tits?

  • @liauris Pro grammar is pro.

  • Simple and free (unlike on Windows). Thanks for the video, this one was nice.

  • dragon age II sucks...

  • Ubuntu screwed up with their unity interface. Mint is much better!

  • @JohnPavilonis have you tryed 11.10 yet? i think you'll change your mind

  • @JohnPavilonis this deserves 1 million thumbs up. i'm using ubuntu 10.10 atm but as soon as i have time/need i'll switch to mint: to me unity was just a cheap shot, gnome 3 totally blew my hope away.

  • I saw those Dragon Age 1 and 2 on your desktop! They work great on wine, don't they!

  • What if I got no internet at home, how does this work external drives/sticks w/e ?

  • @Trinivalts if you don't use anything harcore like a nividia graphics card, ubuntu is in almost all cases ready to go out of the box

  • have no fear. i'm here!

  • I've just swapped from Ubuntu to Mint 11. Maybe you could do a video showing people how to swap distros but keep all their data and settings and all of their applications.

  • Eye shadow and lipstick match the colors on blouse ;-) very nice. Always enjoy the vids . Currently trying to figure out what computer parts would make a good Linux machine (audio, video editing) hey there's a video you could do !!

Otherwise, I just might use my current build as a hackintosh :/

    ~ZT

  • Nixie, Do you install all the distros you try/use? Or do you use them in a virtual-machine?

  • I wish I wasn't so distracted in your openings.........LOL
