Another suggestion when you play live. Use the speaker emulation and connect direct to the mixer board. Use the send return to the G-Major. Also perfect for the studio.
Why use a Fender Tuner when you have a built in tuner in the G-Major?
my rigs actually changed now. I"m still using the JMP-1 and the gmajor, but with an orange 4x12, marshall 9200 (6L6's) and line 6 mod pro with other assorted stomps etc, still have the EL34 50/50 and greenback cab but their just sitting around.
I think the settings were mids at 0, treble at 3 or 4 and bass at 3, no bass shift, and voicing switch set to B (modern) presence was at 3/4 on poweramp and presence on preamp was about 4 also i think. Cheers
cheers buddy, yer i love this rig, it's fuckin killer, onstage aswell. i use greenbacks at the moment in my marshall cab, gives a bit darker but fuller tone, also use it with my orange cab. nice combination V30's and greenbacks, but the GT75's are pretty good still
Thanks for the reply, I am learning how to adjust the levels from the jmp1 ie; levels all select and set it so taht my patches are close to the same output volume. On the crunch/lead patches i set it at -20db or so and on the clean -0db. Does that sound right????
I have a jmp1 and a gmajor, the gmajor manual says to hook it up in series but I get no output when I roll on the effect mix on the jmp1?? it works great in paralell with fx max however there some volumn variance from patch to pactch on the gmajor, any inout suggestions
on the jmp1 make sure ur output level is up at least 3 o'clock, then make sure the input and output controls of g major are up enough too. when i first got mine i had power amp turned up almost full and pre-amp a little so effects werent working.. The effect mix on the jmp1 is that 0 = dry signal or no effect, 12 = full effect no dry signal, of course the effect needs a dry signal to work off so u need to dial the effects mix to around 4-6. i am pretty sure thats how it works. hope this helps m8
mmm i'd say it is a little bit more than the jmp-1. MP-1 is a bad preamp i think. it only has it's distinct tone, cleans are nothing better than the JMP-1 if u know how to work it (compressor, eq) but the jmp-1 can literally do heaps of different tones, plus the ada doesn't really give u it's full control over it's bass, mid, treble controls, they're not wide enough.
the song everyone thinks it is is called "Bleed American" i can see why they think it but its not really that similar. nice work anyway :) iv got a similar set up: 9200 monobloc, jmp1, g major, nd a jcm slash signature cab
How do you have the g major hooked up to the jmp1 and are you getting volumn level difference, eg(somepatches are much louder than others in the g major)?
i was just thinkin that exactly.. dude if this is yours you must have taken a similar lick n modified it but this is a part from a song played on the radio all the time
i would like to know the song though, i'm a carpenter by day and listen to the radio non stop and have never heard anything like it so please can someone tell me what the song is?
hi,your tone is very good! Can you tell me how did you connected g-major with marshalls,im asking you that because my g-major colours the tone a lot,i think i didnt connected it propertly? Please answer me!
i just go from the jmp-1 to the in of g-major and then g major out to poweramp. the major is designed to be placed like that if setup properly, (like parralell or seriel) etc. usually parralell is going to be better.
cheers mate, i'm pretty happy with tone though. I'm gonna try the new seymour duncan pickup, alternative SH-15, supposed to be a perfect match between JB and duncan distortion. Yer i do change channels on gmajor and jmp-1 with ada midi controller
Whats JB? And also I am selling a head. And Think to get a JMP-1 and a El34 power amp. How does it worK? I Plug the JMP-1 to the El34 then to a cab? How much will it cost?
JB = a Seymour Duncan humbucker model... The cost of a JMP1 and a El34 would be around 1500$ using ebay... If I had to guess you would most likely find a POD X3 Live more useful.
hey dude thanks! what do you recommend for pickup? camera quality is really shotty, although i do find the JB to have slightly more highs than normal. yer its just a 1960A, would love to get my hands on a mesa quad with V30's.
The best I know for the style ur playin' is the EMG 81 'cause it has a more balanced eq so u can alternate from low to high on chords rythm. CHeck this video to hear it watch?v=rdZi3StdiSw (quality ain't that great but u can have an idea).
But if u want passive I can't really tell u what u would satisfy urself, mb seymour duncan sh5, sh6 or invader. Dimarzio has tone zone, but pickup is a hard thing to test, I only know that u can test the invader on a Sinister gates signature guitar.
About the cab I never heard a mesa in front of me, here in brazil is hard to find a studio with top equip. The best I heard was a marshall cab from 1977 (dunno the speakers it had) and this 1960A, if I had it I'd be more than happy =P.
If u had another pickup instead sh4 jb, with less highs it would be better for this kind of sound (if u really play that style, kinda nu metal). But I can't tell u if it's great or not due to camera recording, but it would sound fine in a gig I supose.
Dude. 9200 output 16ohm? 4x12 imput mono 16 ohm?

Cool! I use the JMP1 with the output set on -10dB. This way I can turn the 9200 all the way up...love power tubes!!!

I suggest dumping the BBE. Sell it and buy a Parametric EQ then you can control 10 bands of EQ not just 2! lmao
In all seriousness, the BBE sonic maximizer is a joke. Try a parametric eq out somewhere and see for your self, its a mid scooper sold for $200.

I totally agree with the BBE comment!

Hi Im thinking of getting an JMP-1 , I'm asking this question to all of you JMP-1 owners
its regarding the effects loop:
if I set the effect level to maximum, does it cut out the direct signal completely?
or do you get 100% direct signal and also 100% effect?
I would want to use the effects loop for a noise gate and would not want any direct signal to get through
thanks
watchtheskies 2 years ago
@watchtheskies a bit late, but it's 100 direct and 100% effect :)

I like the tone. It's actually really good.
A little bit mid-dy... and a little noisey.
But take that away and it's pretty fucking solid.

thanks dude appreciate it, i actually use greenbacks now much more upfront and full sound
