  • I've seen different ways of his ritual on you tube, movie clips or people dramatizing it, man, it's wrong, so wrong. I do understand that it's the samurai

ritual, and it's punishment, but still. I don't agree with it, never did, never will.

I do respect the fact it's used, but I don't have to like it.

  • lolollolololol

  • my favourite method would be to slice from the side have it go have way in

  • Did she spit the blood on the letter or she just drop it

  • If you were a woman in a Samurai family, you did in fact have the option of performing the ritual, there's documented cases of this through Japanese history.

  • Comment removed

  • it's film

  • she is not a geisha

she look wierd but in some Takeshi Kitano's films women also commit seppuku .

  • a woman wouldnt be able to perform ritual suicide in this manner. There was a special form that was used for woman which was considered to be carried out in a much more dignifyed manner. The reason men commited Seppuku is because they were samurai and it was part of their duty(if called upon). Women were not samurai. I dont think this should be a look at the way japanese view women but how samurai viewed themselves...

  • Exactly, the women cut their jugular vein for a quick and painless death.

  • Women absolutely were samurai in ancient Japan.

  • There is a big difference between being a japanese woman and being a japanese woman in a Samurai family for sure, but they were NOT Samurai. They did not carry two swords, or don armor and ride into battle. If the battle came to them, some could handle it an in some cases were expected to, but that is only in those special cases. Women could not be Samurai, because in Japan, like many other cultures of the time, War was a man's game.

  • That's what I figured. Too much supposition around here.

  • ひどいなこれは

  • that not a geisha - I mean her makeup is all wrong and so is her hair.

  • I think perhaps you have to take into account this video is not just for Japanese people and therefore all that is needed to imply one being a Geisha is a similar look, not necessarily one that is fully extravagant.

  • y wood she do that?

  • There are many ways to commit HARA KIRI, read in the WIKIPEDIA, and i think the warriors those have the guts to do all this stuff are like strong.....i cant believe so calm and composed wen cutting themselves.....i cant decide if this is right or wrong....

  • once more this is only an interpretation, a critic to japanese machism, i studied all varietes of Harakiri, Sepuku, cases (even in the last century on TV), but my point was not to do a veridic representation... but (once again) a critic

  • So then why in your description do you claim that your video shows "the process" of harikiri? And why does it say only warriors could do it when that isn't even close to truth? If you studied it then why would you make such a claim?

  • 筆字めちゃ下手

  • That wasn't all correct. There must be somebody you really trust with you, to ALLMOST cut your head off with a Katana

  • Not necessarilly, notice, she is commiting seppuku on her own,in privacy,in this case, the kaukushin was not necessary

  • i read somewhere that women were supposed to stab their throat,

  • it is not correct, they could choose

  • Excellent Work!!!

  • wow...

  • well i think she got balls

  • What a load of crap.

  • fucking shit

  • nice video 5 stars but i think the she used the knife was a little bit to slow and inaccurate but all in all very good keep on the good work

  • sodi la musica se escucha mal.. no la convertiste a aiff, esta en mp3.. no aprendiste nada en centro?

  • my good

  • seppuku is done when men cut their belly and usffer or have a firnd cut their haed off so they won't bear anymore pain but with women i don't think so the men has to take the pain but the women cuts a particular vein in the throat for a quick death even though i find this whole suicide or even an honorable suicide a bunch of bullshit i mean shit even the most little stuff that goes wrong over their is dishonor.

  • i know that already, thats why you have to read the ABOUT in the left side of the video, and not comment without knowing.

  • women don't cut the belly. they cut their throat

  • i know that already, thats why you have to read the ABOUT in the left side of the video, and not comment without knowing.

  • Harakiri its when the guy pierce his belly and then a helper cut his head off, as an ASSITED DEATH. Sepukku its when the guy do it alone and suffer for a little longer as a punishment for what he did. ...negros... xD

  • i know that already, thats why you have to read the ABOUT in the left side of the video, and not comment without knowing.

  • Sorry if offended, handsome ;_;

I was just responding to certain ignorant who did commented without knowing what he was talking about :/

You japanese or have japanese heritage by any chance? That would be awesome! =D

Thanks for the vid. Its good to remember the time and culture that made women be in their place: The Kitchen ;D and didnt let them burn bra's or spit on cops or kick ours balls as they do today -.-'

  • Today, women also can do good things for men, still being decent. Things not allowed before... you're being ignorant.

  • I do have Japanese heritage. Japan is a great country, although I prefer midevil Japan over modern times.

  • I'm not japanese but I agree.

  • I just noticed I misspelled medieval. Whoops. hahah

  • So free women equals "bra burning, spitting on cops and kicking balls"?

    are you that uneducated?

  • çok onurlu bi davranış zaten japon ilkelerine ve onurlarına hastayım

  • I thought the intestines were supposed to spill out when someone committed seppuku.

  • Not really... But your head gets cut off, though

  • It's called "sepukku", not harakiri -"harahiri" is an English word that some American comedian in the past used and has been used as the wrong word for this kind of Japanese suicide.

  • i search both terms in the days of preproducing this, and the actual name of the short is sepuku but used harakiri for youtube

  • Both Seppuku and Hara-kiri are correct. Seppuku is the formal, Chinese reading of the two kanji characters used and Hara-kiri is the less-formal, Japanese reading. Both are used in Japan and neither are English.

  • The music really looks like Zelda game's music (the ones on N64).

  • Nice letter-opener she used.

  • thanks but actualy its a dag that a japanese women let me

  • Is it you in the video? I'm not being flippant - "sodazo" doesn't tell me if you're a man or a woman.

  • Interesting film, though.

  • Agreed.

  • she isn't a real geisha... her makeup is a bit sloppy and the kimono isn't good quality. Also women's ritual suicide is different from men's often involving slitting of the throat or even poisoning.

  • Women would often tie their knees together before commiting Seppuku, I think...And they'd stab themselves in the heart.

Yamato Totohi Momoso, the aunt of some Emperor, killed herself by stabbing a chopstick into her vagina o.o Im not sure if it was necissarily Seppuku, though.

  • jaja great fact, i know that was the way of doing sepuku, read the ABOUT next to the video

  • sorry for not answering before but didn't see the comment, i know the ritual for woman is different thats why i did it with men's, read the ABOUT next to the video, anyway thanks, and in Mexico its kind of hard finding a good kimono to film a short in which you use "blood"

  • you're just being an ass.

  • Sloppy writing.

  • sorry next time im getting a calligraphy professional to do a geisha actress for the film
