You only have to look at the abysmal comedy awards from last night which I couldn't watch for long, and hosted by the git with the beard. Pointless, unfunny, tasteless jibes at people were the order of the night. The guy is no presenter, no comedian and he's ubiquitous, everywhere, rewarded handsomely. There is no getting rid of him and the numerous other non funny comedians is there? Many love these personalities? - why? I am wondering why people are so enthralled by these obnoxious characters.

that might be a little high but I would not swap the higher standard of television in the UK for anything I have seen abroad so far (I hope that doesn't sound at all imperialist - its not meant to!) I hope that the constant bombardment of crap - perhaps the result of there being too many channels - continues to be shown up by the quality of broadcasters such as the BBC.

You're right. American t.v. (most particularly its ads every few minutes and poor news coverage is abysmal for the most part, but they produce and prioritise many, many new t.v. drama's and comedies and pay the writers and performers well for thier services. What would would you rather have, the gloating, unfunny, witless overpaid sensibilities of Ross and co and endless unfunny cheap to make panel shows or challenging new drama and comedy. I go with the american priorities every time.

Oh I thought you meant Ross from friends for a second... seriously I don't agree with you about this, I think that comedies in the US have to be written for a broader audience and therefore do not connect with anyone as well as british-made ones. There is a certain quality of writing from the US but I find it too samey... no offence intended. I do agree that Ross is too highly paid though - mind you so are footballers, usually.

Well I agree with you there. I can't stand any of those american comedy format programmes either - friends et al. Iritating and all the same format with an audience, but sounding like canned laughter and one liners queuing up to be laughed at. But Jonathon Ross makes me reach for the sick bucket every time. He's just nowhere near a class act, nowhere near any sort of class or act in my view. I just don't understand why people find him funny let alone worth our attention on any level.

Ross and all the other celeb interviewers and announcers and execs on ludicrous salaries at the bbc are not only responsible for a moral decline but a creative decline also, where the priority to reward these goons with huge amounts of money has redirected the funds that could otherwise be spent on new writers, programmes etc.

If you freeze the frame at 2:32, you'll see it is in fact Grace's hand. I really admire Yvette Fielding, she is really ballsy. When it comes to delving with the Spirit World, you have to be.
