  • there is a very minimal up and down play...BUT if u deploy the knife with a wrist flick, the knife will lock up more solidly and there will be no bladeplay at all.

  • coletrane you plan on reviewing the ti military?

  • @vpsaline I had one, but haven't had time to review lately. I was a knife knife, but didn't do it for me.

  • @coletrane811 what turned you off?

  • besides to open the potatoe chips bag, what do you use the blade for ? :P

  • @clustergarde ha, no. I did some cutting around the house, just everyday stuff. Didn't use it for anything too heavy duty though. I have no doubt that it would hold up to some heavy use though.

  • this or the cold steel recon 1 tanto?

  • Two completely different knives. I've owned both. The Recon 1 has a weaker lock, worse materials, way worse fit and finish.

    Paramilitary all the way.

  • is the paramilitary a good self defense knife, looks a little short to me. im looking for a knife i can carry around but that can also put someone down if needed. never seen it in person just online but it looks like a apple and orange peeling knife to me. lol what do you recommend that is not to big and heavy but can put someone down if needed ?

  • The compression lock isn't just a liner lock, just looks like one. It wedges the liner between the blade tang and the stop pin. So in order to get the lock to fail you'd have to crush the liner. One of the toughest locks in production.

Great review, not many reviews with the black blades

  • something is wrong with my para. i can open it like 90 degrees and then it gets really hard o push open. idk what the problem is. it feels like the pivot is to tight past the first 90 degrees. please help

  • I love my military, but it's way too big to carry in CA (unless you're in the woods). Do you know whether the paramilitary is also made in the USA? I'd like a Spyderco to carry in town, but I don't buy knives that aren't USA-made. (Most of the Sypderco knives they sell at our local knife shop are made in Japan.)

  • Yes the paramilitary is made in golden colorado.

  • damn i miss this thing

  • Question for coletrane. If they were the same price (so, disregarding price) would you rather a DGG digicam SnG or F.G D2 para?

  • SnG, hands down. Much heavier duty knife!

  • Cool, thanks alot for the reply. Long story and I can't fit it here (not that interesting anyway) but I have to choose between the two. Normally I wouldnt worry and just say "oh i'll get both one day" but I cant get both. At least, not within the next three years. So, thanks again for the reply. I THINK I will go SnG.

  • I call B.S. I use a 710 for EDC all the time, never had a single chip, even light ones. And i have used this thing hard too.

  • what is the difference between d2 version and the dpm s30v?

  • d2 blade steel or cpm s30v blade steel.

  • do you know where i can get the clip switched to the back end?

  • tks for suggested cost. i got one D2 Camo paramillie brandnew for $100 shipped. think it's a good deal.

  • Wait? Is that the para you want to trade me?

  • no, this is different one.

  • Does mine have any blade play? That can be fixed by playing with the pivot screw right?

  • no, it doesn't have any noticable play. yes, it can be adjusted with the pivot screw.

  • good review. how much did you pay for it ? any price range that i can buy comfortably ?

    tks,

  • Anywhere from $75 - $100 would be a pretty good price. $100 being brand new.

  • Ok question, D2, or S30V?

  • S30V

  • All of these awesome reviews I keep hearing about this knife makes me want my D2 version all that much more.

  • Hey What's Up? I think this is an awesome looking Knife And I might Buy it. Could you please tell me how you fixed the blade Play?

  • just tightened up the pivot bolt a little and it should take away the side to side. you have to find the perfect spot so that it's not too tight to open easily, but no blade play.

  • how has the knife held up since the vid? blade play, coating, etc

  • it's held up great. i recently sold it, but it did do some cutting and the edge help up great, as well as the coating.

  • hey does any body know why the foliage green para military is cheaper then the regular para militarys and is there a difference in d2 and CPM D2

  • who knows, maybe a sprint run or something that didn't sell like everyone thought it would.

  • Good that you like it.

I have one in plain edge. I love it.

Murdered a watermelon the other day.

  • BTW. the Foliage Green is now CHEAPER than the standard S30V!! Picking one up this Friday. :)

  • grate vid!!

sweet knife, i'm also looking out for the Para Military with the D2 blade...

so wat kind of locking machanism do you like the best??

  • i personally prefer a frame lock, but the compression locks are pretty awesome too. my para locked up very tight and i never had any blade play issues after i pulled it apart and cleaned her up.

  • Another good review man. I have quite a few Para's and they are my favorite knife of all time. Good stuff. If you can grab yourself a CPM-D2 model in Foliage Green. I've got one in my pocket right now. :)

  • Yeah, I've seen those and like the color. Thanks!

  • Glad you like the Para man. I recently had a chance to trade mine away, but changed my mind. I'm glad I didn't. It's a great knife. Take it easy bro.

  • Thanks brotha!

  • Spyderco flat grinds are a beautiful thing. ;-)

  • Slice like no other!!!

  • They do indeed. I had to send my Endura in ZDP to Tom Krein to grind it flat.

  • that'll be a slicing machine!

  • great review...For some reason I don't use mnay spydercos? I love them, but I just never have mnay, this is one on my wish list though...but that doesn't matter since the list is about 50 knives long, lol...

p.s. lifters is gonna treat you well! I have seen mnay a sheath coem from them for forum members and they were all happy with them!

  • yeah, he's a very nice guy and does some great work. i'm extremely excited to see/use that combo!

  • Be sure to show us all once you get it...

  • absolutely!

  • ok cool, can't wait man!

  • Think one of these'll be my next pickup. Good review as always. :)

  • You won't be dissapointed! Thanks bro!

  • So what is the knife that your are going to EDC?

  • Jim Burke Rock Star It'll be here in a couple weeks.

  • Sweet knife/review, im getting a Spyderco Byrd Cara Cara coz its not so much as the other spydercos

  • Thanks for watching!

  • Nice one Coleman. This one was on my list, now I caught benchmade fever. Mini Skirmish is perfect EDC.

  • I agree, the mini skirm is ver nice. I carried one for work for a few months.
