@zodeloni Actually the hand of Opus Dei in global media & control of news outlets is very strong - and reality. Whether by corporate ownership, board members, talking heads.
Opus Dei has no morals & are determined to destroy faith in millions, by whatever means possible. The sex abuse has been going on for centuries. It is simply being used to unhinge ppl.
Of course they care nothing for the incredible suffering of the victims!
THINK ABOUT THIS CATHOLICS. When yo donate money to the church you you are only funding pedophiles Your little bit may go to charity a lot more goes to these law suits. If your gonna give money to charity then just go give it to a charity. These men are all lying to you. They don't care about you or your children. You shouldn't trust these men with your kids, your money or your external soul. There just self serving hypocritical basters. And if You still follow them then your RETARDED.
@ciji916 The percent of priests who have abused (a Penn State study puts the number at 2%) is similar to that of ministers in other faiths and fathers, and is much lower than that in public schools (U.S. Dept. of Ed. Estimates an abuse rate from 3.5-50% in schools) wouldn’t that also mean that any donation to any church, any tax dollars to public schools, or tax dollars in the form of welfare or assistance to men would also do the same? So every taxpayer is a retard?
@FAHayek89 Wikipedia puts the US (just Catholic) abuse at 4% & it doesn't even look like a more recent study. The only difference is Schools try to protect the kids from a accused teachers ASAP.Instead the bishops knowingly re-assign priests who abused children be for a investigation can even occur. The only difference I don't like is how these cases are handled, charged, prosecuted & even treated by the members of the community. YES EVERY TAXPAYER IS RETARDED BUT MORE IGNORANT/UNAWARE THEN
@ciji916 Any statistics of that type are going to be difficult to collect, though I'd go with a major respected research university over wikipedia. In either case, it is still below the rate in public schools. In either case, it is below the public school level. That isn't an excuse and the cases of cover-up were inexcusable, but reporting has hardly been even handed. (See below on the facts of this specific case, where the Church did act, but local police did not.)
@FAHayek89 I do love your comments but I don't get what you are advocating? What case are you talking about were the police didn't act. I will report that to there superiors and trash them online all day. Richard Dawkins and his followers along with child advocacy groups will call for their Police Chief's termination. I'm demanding accountability against all child abusers.
@ciji916 In the recent case reported in the NYT and discussed above, the victims didn't report the alleged abuse to either the Church or the police until years after the fact. When it was reported, the police stated that the statute of limitations had run out, legally preventing them from taking action. I can't blame the police. They followed the law. At the same time, the local dioceses did inform the police when they found out and can't be blamed for gvt. inaction.
@FAH Also, in this case, the priest was moved into isolation, away from public contact. The issue was whether he was to be defrocked (much like in U.S. due process, a bishop, even Ratzinger, could not defrock him on his own), which required a legal proceeding that he, being terminal, was not likley to survive.
Again - no defense for abuse of cover-up. The point is that reporting has often been biased by not covering details and not reporting on even more common abuse in other institutions.
@FAHayek89 U sound like one cold hatred un-compassionate sex offender defense lawyer. . Who are you trying to protect & what are you defending, the church? Defender of faith or defender of child rape?
@FAHayek89 What u are literal saying is unless these children fallow the right protocol for a crime committed against them that they have no understanding of or idea what exactly it means to be taken advantage of and prayed on for their vulnerability. Well good thing they changed the statue of limitations law. We demanded accountability
@ciji916 I'm all for the change in the law. My point is that until the law was changed, the police had not choice and could not prosecute. The Church in this case did the right thing by informing the police as soon as the report was made, and the police may have wanted to prosecute, but the law wouldn't allow it. If the law is bad, that is the fault of elected officials and the populace who elect them, but there is simply nothing that can be done legally.
@FAHayek89 Why work 4 the law if the law wouldn't work for you. whether JUSTICE B SERVED by civilian victim parent or vigilante. I'll pitch the undercover sting operation to Chris Hanson on Dateline or teach a victim to decapitate. U saw Hard Candy, Rite? People of the law cant break the law & b protected by the law @ the same time. At least not during a riot. Laws only represent Government not the people. SO DON'T U "AGAINST THE LAW" ME. @ciji916 Be careful with wikipedia. Wikipedia isn't a collection of universities, though people at universities may contribute. It is a collection of anonymous, private individuals who write and edit articles. The only editorial review consists of other contributors who read the articles. You could set up a wikipedia account today and submit or change an article with no more information than you gave youtube. It is usually pretty good at self-policing, but hardly authoritative.
Isn't that just a damned shame?? The pope is NOT infallible and this shows that. I think the pope SHOULD be attacked for this.
He's a stupid, stupid man who's more concerned with protecting these pedophile priests and the church than the people he should be concerned with, the victims. Very disgusting!
It wasn't a problem with peodophelia. Most of THE 2 % OF PRIESTS WERE HOMOSEXUAL and most victims were post pubescent boys. The Vatican said this last December NOW THEY ARE PAYING DEARLY. You can't say anything against homosexuals or HOMOSEXUALITY now. The LAMESTREAM media and the fascist liberals WILL DESTROY anyone who DARES TO SPEAK AGAINST 'GAYS.'
May the Father deliver us from you. In jesus Christ's name I pray, AMEN.
By the way, this isn't about personal faith at all -- it's about organized religion and the corrupted power structure it inevitably creates. The Catholic Church in its present state is simply irredeemably stained, and (at the very least) should lose its tax-exempt status in the United States. I know that will never happen, of course, because it would be political suicide for the individual who brought it to light. Instead, the church will continue its path of obfuscation and greed.
I can't believe how the vatican still refuses to admit that it was wrong. This is absolutely disgusting. Arrest the pope, and arrest these child abusing sons of bitches!
killuminati killuminati killluminati killluminati killuminati A REVOLUTION IS COMING KILLUMINATI. they are finally feeling the tension. keep pressuring those illuminati sob's. WE Are legion.
Poor church.... all they did was destroy multiple nations (the Crusades), round up non-Christians and torture them for not being of the same faith (the Spanish Inquisition), attempt mass genocide to remove the Jews (the Holocaust), and as of late they rape kids and tell everyone to keep it quite (anytime they've been on a news in the last decade). Why can't the everyone just let them be?
Here is aggression you arrogant little pope man..children around the world were enticed, raped and than told to shut up and that its gods will.Yor church is a crime against decent people and families.
This priest in question was already arrested, tried and convicted in a civil court. The letter is after the fact of those events about defrocking the priest. The priest couldn't be tried twice for the same offence (though the civil authorities were far too lenient on their sentence). This is a media attack on the CC as not enough analysis and investigative journalism is going on here.
@empacae The issue here isn't that he was tried twice, but that he wasn't defrocked which is essentially a termination. In any other workplace, the employee would have been quickly terminated for having been found to molested 200 deaf boys to say nothing of the possibility that the employee would never have been allowed to have so many victims elsewhere.
@Taospark Two different cases. The priest in this case was removed from service. Defrocking is just that he was "depriested" (if that's a word). After being convicted by the civil authorites he would've been a registered sex offender, meaning he wouldn't be allowed to work with children again. The priest in Wisconsin died before his tribunual.
This is repackaged old news to make it sound new again. This pope has done more to clean the Church up and ensure this doesn't happen again than in any other institution secular or religious. If the pope was guilty (really guilty) Interpol would've stormed the VA by now. All this is is innuendo and half truths Al Jazeera does better reporting on this.
Furthermore; there are many faults here. Many within the CC itself (it is a poor communicator to the modern world). But you will see that these cases cropping up are more to do with lawsuits than justice. A lot of the time civil authorities have already dealt the justice (some of the priests are already dead), now for oppurtunists it time for compensation. What's the true motivation?
Okay -- now I know you're on the Vatican's payroll. This pope has done more to COVER UP scandal in his life time than any pope in the past several centuries.
That's the crux to this. That there is over a billion of us who would defend the church for free. If all you're going to accept is MSM feeding you pablum you deserve to be swayed by any propaganda after that. Maybe the US should pull tax exempt status from all charities.... (more)
Then we as Catholics could redouble our efforts to keep homeless shelters, hospitals, orphanages, schools and universities and soup kitchens open and pay tribute to Ceasar (I mean Obama) at twice the level. Well it seems as if we're all going to be taxxed to death anyway. Might as well loose the subterfuge and get on with it.
@empacae They have 2 provide charity 2 the community just 2 get tax exempt status. It's great u are defending the church 4 free but r u defending pedophilia? Do u not think they should go 2 jail? If the catholic church wants us 2 not take there religion as a joke then they would save what decency they have left and remove all the men mixed up in this crime. What ever $ they kick down to people is nothing compared 2 what they keep. How else can they pay off over 200,000 sexual molestation cases.
@ciji916 We give ourselves to charity (old English word for love) because it is part of our mission that we provide for the least of us. Of course I think these criminals should go to jail, for much longer than they actually got from the civil authorites (forever if I had a say). Yes a detailed and accurate investigation should be done at all ranks within the Church, and those that covered it up should be jailed too (even if it were the Pope)
I like to know where you got the figure 200,000 from. In the US from 1950-2001 there were 10,667 cases of sexual abuse (From 1991-2000 there were 390,000 cases of sexual abuse by public school employees -- where's the media outrage over that?) Frankly, one is TOO MANY!
ADDENDUM: My apologies. The number I quoted of 390,000 abuse cases in the US public school system by employees was a tad inflated. It is actually 290,000 cases over the period of 10 years. Still one is too many.
Question: If the pope is investigated thoroughly and is cleared of these allegations in a court of law, do you think that would be sufficient to the media and the masses at large who wish to tear down the CC?
Priests are raping children. Priests are protecting Priests that are raping children. The Pope is protecting priests that are raping children. Since God ain't doing anything about these Priests that are raping children, where are the authorities that should be arresting these rapers?
The Pope is placing himself on my Enemy Number One list since he couldn't care less how the REAL victims feel (the children abused by the Church). Instead the Pope is only concerned about how he or his members feel.
The Pope himself had full knoweldge that one of its members was a Pedophile and it took him too many years to bring someone to justice. Its about time we start locking up any Pedophile regardless if the Pope protects that Pedophone or not.
Lets not forget the evil hiding in the atheists back yard - with all their disgusting paedophile tourists who go to poor nations to molest the children there - and not a word - not a whisper about it! Snivelling disgusting hypocrites! Uggh - can't someone blow the whistle on this evil! No I guess not! Sick!

I hope to FSM that youre a poe, otherwise....jumping jesus on a stick, youre loonier than most of the fundies who spout off here. I doubt you can back up your claim of "the evil in the atheists back yard" with anything other than the "facts" you pull from your "butt". The nazi pontiff HID CHILD MOLESTERS! And this is the guy whom god chooses to talk to?!?!?
The first portion of this statement was logical. The second wasn't considering that out of "Islamic Lands" came much of the basis for modern day medicine and mathematics. Also, the first truly interracial world religion "Sunni Islam". Check out "Bilal".
@amaqula Atheists can be pedophiles as well as Christians. But the fact that leaders of Christianity use their power to molest children while the world watches is disgusting. And who has the facts on their side? Atheism with their thousands of scientists or neanderthals with their clubs.
Atheists are failing to use their powers to investigate paedophile tourism and bring it to light!! So why is this - is it an evil coverup? And atheists have plenty of scientists - they just aren't very good! The space program has been cancelled and they are still feeding off old Christian science having failed to make independant breakthroughs of their own! FAIL! Clean up your own disgusting back yard please atheists!
It is OK for the church to feel like it is under attack. But, let's not loose focus, the issus is the many children that were left unprotected under its scope. The church should worry less about how it feels...and more about the disposition of the children that it has impacted. The church is not the victim...the children are.
So true, most world religions have instances of abuse. However, when an organization tries to victimize itself for being criticized on it's international disciplinary structure. It shows a lack of humanity and an overwhelming arrogance. Thumbs up for your statement!
@CityofDestiny You are right. The issue is the children.
At the same time, if this was the recent case reported in the NY Times, it was representative of a spade of inaccurate reporting. The Church didn't hide anything from the police. The police were informed but refused to prosecute. The local bishop removed the priest from contact with the public. "Defrocking" requires a legal procedure. The priest was terminally ill and was expected to die before the procedure could be completed.
Well They'd better feel attacked. Why should we even discuss this shit? If a plain citizen commits Pedophilia, they are from jailed to murdered. Why the Fuck should the Priests be any different? Fuck you Pope. Ordinary people have the same rights and obligations to society too
@zodeloni Actually the hand of Opus Dei in global media & control of news outlets is very strong - and reality. Whether by corporate ownership, board members, talking heads.

The space program has been cancelled and they are still feeding off old Christian science having failed to make independant breakthroughs of their own! FAIL! Clean up your own disgusting back yard please atheists!

Protecting child molesters, that has a habit of pissing off the media.

@Kingzogre So does the opposition of the Catholic Church to gay marriage and abortion, which is the underlying reason for all the "outrage".
