@3ddonovan You must be very rich then......... Cooking oil is expensive....... And you have to mess with chemicals even with new cooking oil (methanol) lol........ Why not just go to Mcdonalds and load up with french fry grease? lol
@ryanhall2013 Due to the fact that I was on the wrong subject, I removed my comment. Here's a comment for you though: Cooking oil isn't expensive, it's just hard to regulate.
@3ddonovan Cooking oil isn't expensive? I'm not trying to pick an argument, but have you been to the grocery store lately? One regular sized bottle of cooking oil costs more than a gallon of gas. And what is so hard to regulate about cooking oil? .............
@3ddonovan Just over 1 quart of the lowest grade vegetable oil will cost you about $3.00 to $4.00 and up where I live. Methanol is about $6.00 per gallon (5 gallons) or about $4.00 per gallon if you buy it in a 55 gallon drum where I live. So you would need to use almost $12.00 worth of cooking oil plus about 1/5 gallon of $4.00 per gallon methanol along with lye..... That shoots the price to around $13.00 per gallon. That doesn't include production costs.
@3ddonovan Gas here is about $3.00 per gallon. So using fresh cooking oil is not a very efficient way for me to produce bio-diesel. Now using free cooking oil from a restaurant is very cheap and you could produce bio-diesel on large scale for probably around $1.00- $1.20 per gallon at the highest. As for the cooking oil changing volume: I have not known cooking oil to change its volume unless maybe it's under an extreme pressure change. Transmission oil changes volume, but not cooking oil.

@ryanhall2013 The cost depends on the vegetable oil that you're buying. It's hard to regulate cause it's volume changes alot.
