  • is it true that he said that there have been no dinosaur fossils found in the K-T Boundary or afterward. ?

  • I got to meet this guy at his museum. He was very down to earth and cool.

  • Seems like most Paleontologists DON'T go to the gym much. Hahaha.

  • I met him recently (last sunday in fact) when he wasn't wearing the parka. he's not really overweight, though he is a sturdy fellow.

  • @RossRoss12345 They're out in the cold, wind, and rain so they're wearing multiple layers.

  • not necessarily

  • He said "Swamp" or "Sandbar", he didnt mention the great flood. Preservational environments can include deserts, with mummification, oil seeps, or volcanic ashfalls.

Long story short, Bob is also a pentacostal preacher, and he has been quoted saying that "young earth creationism misses the point of the Bible entirely".

    Chew on that.

  • Yeh, Rober Bakker advises that people read what St. Augustine wrote about Genesis. It's about time people realised that extreme views, for example, those held by people such as Richard Dawkins and Ken Ham (although I must say I much prefer Richard Dawkins to Ken Ham, who is just a crackpot), tend to be called extreme for a reason.

  • I agree, extremist evangelists are best relegated into the bad eggs basket in my personal opinion. The leaders in particular, as the followers are really more along the lines of "sheeple".

I understand about Dawkins, he is mainly regarded as extreme because of his anti-religious bent, which I regard as un-necessary.

  • @adamvanhelsing How are Richard Dawkin's views 'extreme'?

  • @6Vital6Remains6 I'm not talking about his views as an evolutionary biologist. I've read seven of his books, they were brilliant, except The God Delusion. As a Christian, obviously I'm not going to agree with the views in that book. I do agree with certain points, such as it is wrong to tell children that they are of a certain religion before they are old enough to know better. But the manner of his speech can come across as angry, ranting and more anti-religious as opposed to just atheistic.

  • @6Vital6Remains6 Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not just saying he is an extremist because he is an atheist. Christopher Hitchens is an atheist, but I wouldn't call him an extremist. His book - although it does not hold my views - God is Not Great is more well-thought out than The God Delusion. Richard Dawkins is not the same type of extremist as Ken Ham, an intellectual extremist. Richard Dawkins seems to be more an emotional extremist. He is a very angry man who truly hates religion.

  • nope. rivers will naturally bury the corpse on its own, without ever flooding.

besides, that scenario is silly in light of the evidence.
