A lot of that was studio FX. The last Suede album as well as the stuff he did with 'The Tears' was truer to his live voice. By the way, being a huge Suede fan, I was rather disappointed with this album.

In one of his interviews he said that he thinks his voice is now better than ever. So, maybe he thinks that he also sings better now... I just damned miss that screechy way of singing and all the fire and crazyness in it - so much. Maybe it's the age thing? He can't sing the old way anymore, without any injuries at least.
