I never knew what the title was supposed to mean. I case you care, here's what I found:
"Straw-Foot" was the Civil War term for rookie. The idea was that some of the recruits were of such greenness that they did not know the left foot from the right. The drill sergeants had finally realized that these lads did at least know hay from straw and so had tied wisps of hay to the left foot and straw to the right foot and marched them off to the chant of "Hay-foot, straw-foot, hay-foot, straw-foot."
Thanks to the listener earlier with the civil war story. I've been under the impression that strawfoot is a classic country/folk song passed down for generations since the Civil War.
According to what I've heard, during the civil war some of the soldiers did not know which foot was their left and which was the right. However, they could tell the difference between hay and straw. So officers would tie hay and straw to their feet when they marched and say "hayfoot, strawfoot".
HAHA! never heard this song/band before. Just chanced upon a John Keane singing this here on youtube... so I had to come here and hear the original... LOVE IT!
@darksniper77 Seems so, I was lucky enough to have a pair of their songs show up on my pandora radio station. This is what country music should have evolved into in the last couple decades, not the twangy rap that it is today.
@AugustVonpetersborg Has country music evolved into RAP?! Wtf you talking bout. And by the way, hiphop is good shit, progressive music of a context (besides commercial faggot bs like kanye west, ll cool j and 50 cent), there's no conflict between rap and bluegrass/folk such as this. The enemy of the art is techno, trance, modern disco and such. All soulless, all bad, computerized intellectual death, rotten to the core.
@darksniper77 That's so true! I by chance walked into a second hand book shop while I was waiting for the bus and Sackcloth n Ashes was playing, it was so incredible I asked the cashier the name of the band, then googled them as soon as I got home. Been a massive fan ever since :)

Stupid question, but is this a christian singer? Because I saw someone suggest that, and I was wondering if that's true.
