@MrAirsoft42 I have used them both.. and The work simular: positive on the cinch: It is nice and compact. Positive on the gri gri .. I think it is easier to operate because it is slighly bigger and somewhat ergonomical..
Not sure why you would want to spend that kind os money when a "rescue 8" is cheap, simple and the gold standard. More part, more things to go wrong. I've never had a problem hand breaking with my "rescue 8" in all my years climbing. Plus you can feed slack effortlessly with an 8.
i hate how people say "dont take your hands off a grigri". They lock, you dont need to worry about them. i self belayed up a tree just by jumping and pulling up the rope, and the grigri locked.
... your the kind of guy i don't want to belay me.... its a good method, i agree with you on its not necessary, but its good practice when you might need to use a rescue 8 or an ATC in an emergency situation.
i always carry a figure 8 for rappelling and atc just in case....and i do belay properly. i'm just saying that people freak out over these things, they do lock.
hahaha... yea man... im right there with you. just bought a 2nd one today.. I tell people, if you are going to spend the 100 dollars to buy one, use it. Have you repelled with it yet? Go no hands and freek people out.
Grigri isnt to safe because people use the opening handle when somebody is falling

@drielok When you kick a rock down and knock out your belayer you'll be happy you had a grigri.
