While Venture Bros takes the Jonny Quest satire to much darker areas, this is a great little parody, especially in how perfectly 60s the design and intentionally stilted animation is.

Why did this marvelous show only got 26 freaking episodes??? Freakazoid had all the good stuff you could expect from something out of Adult Swim's best years (see video above) with none of the crap that came with it (i'm looking at you, Seth MacFarlane) *And* it was kid friendly show.

I mean, yeah, Freakazoid is totally a ripoff of MIke Allred's Madman, but c'mon, it was pretty good and kind of clever.

Pretty sure it is Scott Menville. I know they went out of their way to get the voice casting just so, and even tried to get surviving "Johnny Quest" voice actors to do their own parody roles, but one fellow they did a test with just couldn't pull it off anymore and was reluctantly replaced.

This was written before Freakazoid!, and Freak just wound up the stage for it.

@WolfBrat (cont...) Apparently if you play the opening credits to the 60s "Johnny Quest", "Toby Danger" matches it beat-for-beat. At the time this aired, Hanna-Barbera (then still a rival) was revamping "Johnny Quest" for air on Cartoon Network, but was having trouble getting it to feel right.

This thing is great...underrated by half. If you're familiar with the original JQ series and Doug Wildey's style - 'Toby' just nails it...voice direction, shading, direction..everything.
