I consider playable to be at the very least 30 fps, preferably 40 fps. This was filmed at about 10-15. When you're actually moving your mouse around and trying to control your character you notice the graphical lag a lot more.

That's because you're only watching it, not playing it. Film can be much lower FPS and still look smooth because you aren't interacting with it. I've also made many machinimas so for this entire video I was focusing on making smooth movements, not actually playing.

You should check out VBS a.k.a. Virtual Battlespace. It's the old OFPs or ArmA enhanced to the max. Extremely the most realistic. Simulator to train soldiers and Marines of the US, Britain and the ADF.

arma 2 is a millitary simulator based on vbs (virtual battle simulator). Vbs is used to train armed forces in communications and tactics. Flashpoint 2 is a semi-realistic arcade game, who's gameplay is based upon Operation Flashpoint. Flashpoint 2 is good if you want instant, arcade-ish action, but Arma 2 is good if you want realistic gameplay. You can still easily get instant action in Arma, but it is way more realistic.
