  • Luis Alva was a great light tenor at this time!

Florez is an amazing light tenor right now, so let's enjoy Florez now while he is alive and we can see him perform live!

In my opinion only people who have seen Florez live should comment!

  • ¡Precioso!

  • light tenor, so catchy.

  • absolutely beautiful no matter how many times i hear it

  • Love this song!

  • I think he's the best Almaviva ever. I have a 1954 b&w recording from italian television (the first year of italian tv programming) with a younger Luigi Alva in this role.

  • OMG! He can have anything he wants! GORGEOUS!!!!!!!

  • Luigi Alva, is the best in this role, for me. Then, Francisco Araiza.

  • Since almost all the versions of this aria that I have had a chance to listen to, were beautiful to me, I guess I should simply say: Bravo Rossini! ;-)

Btw: Sometimes, Rossini's music and Mozart's tend to become hugely similar! (e.g: Listen to the beginning of this video,I cant even sense it in the way the performers speak) Is there a reason for that?

  • Yes indeed before Florez there was another superb bel canto Peruvian tenor, Luigi Alva, whom for some reason Florez never mentions.

  • @saagua1953

bad for Mr Florez,In my opinion he has a lot to learn from Maestro Alva

  • and they are cute!! BOTH of them!

  • @ternitamas Yes-- indeed they are!!!!

  • yes it's good but lesson francisco Araïza he's also south american... he is a pure jewel in Almaviva!!!

  • Monsieur Alva, Monsieur Prey ( + ) quel moment de grâce !!! Merci à vous ...

    Con rispetto .

    Francesca .

  • Also a peruvian tenor??.. Great.

  • Ciao Luis...onorato d'averti conosciuto- Grande voce e grande uomo!

  • I agree with fabrizzio....but I like florez too.....This is not a competition....each voice is different and alva doesn't sing anymore....this is life.....enjoy!

  • Florez should learn from this GREAT SINGER! Instead of his fans making use of great renditions from great singers to bring the attention to him. I think this is disrespect and only reflects that Florez gets his attention here in YouTube mostly by his fans misusing other singers renditions.

  • One couldn't agree more!

  • Of all the foolish comments I've read in You Tube, this takes the Golden Cup of Idiocy.

  • The natural acting, grace and beauty of this rendition is THE standard upon to REACH, I doubt surpass.

  • Whoever gave this less than five stars, should go right straight to hell!

  • Many thanks for the upload!

  • A M A Z I N G ! ! ! Such three singers, perfect them all!. Thanks for posting it.

Saludos.

  • but he seems have been an eclectic singer, he sung also in a recorded version of Monteverdi's VIII book (madrigali guerrieri e amorosi) with Raymond Leppard (Philips), and very well!

  • I speak little spanish ,but understand VIVA EL PERU CARAJO!!!!He is the best of the best!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, this is an amazing interpretation! Beautiful =)

  • What year was this performance? This guy is amazing and this is not an early performance.

  • 1972

  • this film was made by.....???

  • Jean-Pierre Ponnelle

  • thank u ^^

  • Your welcome

  • Ernst Wild

  • this film was made by.....???

  • this film was made by.....???

  • Soy Brasilero!

  • I agree!!!!!!

  • A magnificent actor and singer. Another reason for Peruvians to be proud of Peru

  • This Barbiere is the best. Teresa Berganza, Hermann Prey and Luis Alva...they are wonderful, and Alva's acting is great. maybe his voice can't reach the higher notes than Juan Diego Florez, but I like better Alva's. voice. Anyways, they both are the greatest peruvian tenors.

  • Alva is was a refined singer, he did not shout.

  • I agree, and Flores DOES shout his top notes, e.g. in La Fille du Regiment: not an atom of taste.

  • Exactly, there are not comparisons. Alva is an artist, a great artist. And a great person too.

  • Absolutely Right.

Luigi Alva has taste. Flores is just a circus acrobat by comparison.

  • I was at Covent Garden in late December 2007, a day or two before New Year, and for sure we all cheered for Flores doing the Pavarotti thing. But it was Dessay who brought the house down, again and again. The DVD has fake applause.

  • Florez has great technique and a lovely voice. It's a little pingier than Berganza, which turns some people off, but I think Florez is a great singer. Plus he's darn cute! ;)

  • well there you go then.

  • You are right:Berganza is great. Pls reply

  • I have never come across a tenor like Alva he really is fantastic, what a pitty that there is not much of him on dvd, he beats Florez by leagues, and Florez is not bad either

  • Fully agree; I had reservations about Florez which is why I ended up here. He DOES beat him by streets.

  • un gran cantante y una gran persona!

  • Alejandro Granda, Luis Alva, Ernesto Palacio and Juan Diego FLorez. The four greatest peruvian tenors.

  • Què grandes tenores peruanos !!! Bravisimo!!!

  • Wonderful! Thanks so much for posting this sniketalk.

You wouldn´t also happen to have Alva´s first aria from this opera?

  • grande como el Peru Alvaaa!
