@77musica No, we think we have made it and no coincidence as our percieved success as a people goes up our quality of music and ingenious talents have taken a serious nose dive.
@77musica It may never the SAME..but trust, emcees ARE alive & well, Kendrick Lamar..J.Cole..Wale...I think for every Lil B..there's a Pac Div. Feel me?
that was a great live performance and L's vocals were absolutely phenomenal... I still haven't seen another female transition from singing to rhyming then singing again (live) in the same song without help from autotune or some other gadget... again, this was a "Wooooww" performance
I never comment on videos, and I've seen many, many, many live performances, but this is simply mind-blowing. It's like telekinetic energy between the three of them. Long live the Fugees and long live hip-hop.
I lived on the Score for years. In the car, driving and driving and driving cuz I was so in the zone. My neighbors probably wondered why the hell I always circled the block five times before I pulled in the driveway LOL.
@snubbs741 Does her voice need auto-tune? Don't forget that many singers have their voices auto-tuned these days because they're just not such good singers. They get selected by record companies because they have a pretty face, not because they can sing. Lauryn Hill, however, is an exceptionally good singer.
And when do you ever see a hiphop group that has a live band with them these days? Hardly, if ever. Fugees for the win.
@wrongwayup Yeah I know I phrased that wrong I meant that I doubt a modern day record company would sign a band as unconventional as the Fugees without trying to force them to make their music cheap pop. luckily they could record albums like the SCore the way they wanted
@snubbs741 Perhaps, although I also think that many record companies would jump at the opportunity of being the one releasing a new Fugees album, and give them complete artistic and creative freedom. But even then, we have to remember that The Score was made in the 90's, when there was a totally different artistic atmosphere compared to the present. A new Fugees album wouldn't have that 90's vibe to it, which made it so good (actually, I think The Score is the best hiphop album that I know). :)
@wrongwayup yeah exactly thats what i mean.. its not my favorite, but its definitlely up there, especially since i like unique eclectic hip hop like that
@wrongwayup uhh damn the hardest question haha. I got a few that are up there. That's Them by Artifacts, Grass Roots by ATBAN Klann, Labcabincalifornia by The Pharcyde. Those are like my top 3 but theres too many to list and the list always changes haha.
@momusuboy I'm right there with you man. I can't say for sure, personally that's it's the best ever. Hell, I can't say that ANY album of any genre is the "best ever". My opinion always changes. But "The Score" is for sure one of the best rap/hip-hop/any genre records ever made. I totally agree with you. Lauren's first verse on "Ready or Not" is so tight.
Nice vid. I know of an unkown cat that goes pretty hard. Search "Vthov Obama Inauguratiion Song" and you'll see what I mean. Fiyah, pure fiyah. I can't believe people are sleeping on this guy.
