Sorry, I can't really help you there with the macro zoom (I don't know how to use it either, lol)

On the other hand, I suggest using Spot Focus (if you don't want to use automatic). It makes a rectangle appear on your touchscreen. Wherever you touch the touchscreen, then, comes into focus. It's an extremely useful tool!!

You might want to play around with color settings. For example, in Sony Vegas, you can try increasing color saturation and contrast. In the end, I render my videos in .WMV format at 1080p HD, roughly 24fps.

Thanks very much!! I used the "Spot Focus" option that can be found under the menu. This allows you to use the touchscreen to touch the area of the screen that you want to come into focus :] I prefer using your nail instead of your fingertip for better results :]

I had used the USB cable provided with the camera to copy the raw files directly onto the computer

I know what you mean. I think it's a combination of not using a tripod / monopod, and bringing the footage down to 23 FPS.
