I have now owned the Delta Blues amp, for a year now. I use it as my main amp. For me it's one of the best amps I have owned. It sounds good and it's not heavy like a lot of other tube amps. I also have a Fender twin, PV classic 50 with 4 tens. I like them all, But I really like this Delta Blues amp.
I wish the Fender Blues Jr. NOS was USA Made, MIM just doesn't have the QC that the US factory has. Peavey, USA Made :-) I'm torn between the two. I need a smaller bedroom amp to play the Blues in the bedroom setting. 15 watts vs 30 doesn't matter to me, I know the Fender 15watts is LOUD. It's the tone that I'm not sure about :-) SRV, John Mayer, and other Blues is what I'm after. I know you have a Jr. NOS, I wish they had a SB switch on it. Does the Fender get very hot?
This is the best versatile amp on the market period. 20 watts is just not quit enough. 50 watts is too much at times. This amp delivers an awesome 30 watts and fits like a glove for any occasion from blues to classic rock. If you ever get one dont sell it or you will regret it. The cats out of the bag on this amp and replacing it would be hard unless you get lucky like i did. I bought mine for $200.00. It is worth 3 times that and much more in tone quality. Ireplaceable*
I agree 100% on the ubiquitous 'Fender' tone thing....it's awesome, but done to DEATH! these DB look ok so thanks for the vid, but my 15-40W blues jamming amp search isn't over yet me thinks.
awesome playing ;) great licks and tone -> two questions: does this amp sound pretty much the same as the Classic 30 (despite having bigger speaker)? And what are your typical EQ settings? Thanks in advance.
Can anyone tell me if the peavey footswitch changes the channels and trem or channels and verb?? I have heard some weird crap concerning this issue. I tried a fender 2 button footswitch for my superchamp xd and it didn't work, think you gotta buy there's.
I bought a brand new 2007 model last year at a mom & pop outfit in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Peavey owner's manual has a typo: there are four 6BQ5/EL84's (mine came with JJs) and *THREE 12AX7's (JJ EC83's) -- but manual says _TWO_ 12AX7s.
*THREE is correct!!!

@1971Goldtop i played the amp with a ts9 and the sound just blew me away.

hey man, would you recommend this amp over a fender blues jr? I have the jr. with a jensen speaker and I get great tone but I want something with more power. I like the features of this amp and it has the tweed look that I love. what do you think?
@opivy87 Im not sure if I would recommend it over a blues JR to be honest. Blues JR amps are great. They are a whole lot louder though, the 30watts makes a big difference in a gig situation/jam situation. They have a button on the top called "Boost" it's like a shit button, leave it off and you'll get some great results, but whether it's a nicer tone than a fender amp, I'd leave that to you to decide, everyone has different opinions about what sounds good. Cheers. :)
@intheblues Blues Jr. is legendary for it's amazing tone regardless of the fact it is inexpensive also. This amp sounds good, but really no comparison.
@opivy87 I have had about every fender vintage amp over the years,, just got a DB's that was not working and had it fixed,, its the best sounding amp have ever heard or owned,, its the combo of the clean channel and 15
Hello shane brillliant playing and sound what kind of style is that at the start and from 1 min to 1 min 20 sounds brilliant is it jsut fingers or pick and finger.
Best review of and amp I have seen on YouTube. - the only thing that could make it more awesome would be a PIP of the controls showing while you play. -Thank you Shane
It's a nice amp! really...I tried some peavy that had a too sharp sound..this one seems (this model) more soft, the sound is more rounded and dynamic..but I should try it...that's how it seems from this demo.
What's that box on the top of your amp? Is it one of those "Suck Knobs" that you can get from ebay? Can't you only achieve preamp overdrive with those? Just wonderin' haha. Thanks.
How loud do these things get? My Hot Rod Deville could hang with a loud drummer at about 4.5 or 5 out of 12. How much would I have to crank this thing to play unmiked with a full band?
if you turned your amp all the way up to 12 and he did the same, your amp would be louder but barely. But since you only turn your amp up to 5/12 he could turn his amp a lil higher maybe about 6/12 or 7/12 and the would be able to get the same volume. Basically you never use all of your amps volume to play and neither would he. Its something like for ever W there is like 3dBs so both can get ridiculously loud and hurt your ears.
hell yeah! You just wont retain a super clean fendery sound. You won't have enough headroom to play clean it will have lots of natural tube distortion awesomeness. I have a Peavey Classic 50 (50W barely louder then 30w) and I never have ever had to turn the thing up past 5/12. My drummer was a metal drummer, and my other a straight up punk drummer so pretty much the loudest they could play, they did. Also the 15" speaker will push a lot of air and will be really loud.
I own one of these, and tbh, it barely needs one because of the way the pre and post channel is setup. But I have used and a tubescreamer type pedal and sounded great. While its called the delta blues, you can get quite a range of tones from blues to hard rock etc. You could probably do metal on it if you use humbuckers and some pedals. The fact is the clean is great, so from there you can really do anything.
I have one of these, the sound is killer and blows any fender amp out of the water, the 15 inch speacker sounds really Big! and the clean channel takes me to heaven! I prefer this amp over the bandit and even the ac30 if you selling this amp you will be sorry. trust me
Yeah the noiseless are killer man, I love them. I have them in all my fender strats ;) There's no buzz they hold overdrive better (in my opinion) and the clean is good but not quite as glassy.
the bandit is a very easy amp to get a killer sound out of because it has a great clean channel. There is a difference between these two in terms of tone. I think the delta is very easy to get a good strat or 335 tone out of without the use of pedals. IMO the bandit needs a pedal, but it sounds great with one :)
Great review! I love the warmer sound of this amp. I'm also growing a bit tired of my Fender's sounds. They've become a bit brittle for me (does that make sense??). I love their tone, but I've just had too much of it over the years. Even with your camera mic so close, I can say that I really like this amp. I'll be buying one for myself, I think. Thanks.
Me again, Shane. I just watched your stage solo. Sweet and steamy. I would've enjoyed watching/hearing it in person. Hmmmm....... I'm about 10,000 miles away. Never mind. LOL
I also use this amplifier and I think it's superb. It was between this and a Fender but sometimes I think that fenders can be very sharp and a bit to clean. May I ask how you feel about the overdrive channel on this amp though?
Wait a minute! Do you play both left handed and right handed? At the beginning you had the strat in your lap, and it really looked like the neck was facing right, but then the 335 was sitting with it's neck in your left hand! Do you play both?
Yep it is. I used to use it with My Fender Deville. I think I just put it up there because I happend to find it again after months of looking for it :)
What's that box on top of your amp? Is it one of those "Suck Knobs" that they sell on ebay? I was thinking of getting one for my DeVille 212 but I questioned the actual usefulness of it... I saw the Peavey Delta in a magazine and kind of fell in love with it...
Yeah it's an omnisonic designed for the Fender Deville (or anything with only one master volume channel and effects loop. It's a great box, I havent tried it with the delta
Hey shane. Great playing. This amp sounds beautiful. Do you think it is a better amp than your fender twin and deville you have listed. It sounds great. I just want one amp for blues and have a hotrod deluxe at present but am thinking of trying this baby.
I like it more than the hot rod stuff personally but everyone likes different things. If you want the "fender sound" this wont give it to you but it will give you the sound of your guitar more honestly. Is it better than the fender twin? Good question, I think it's as good for a lot less money, just different. The tremelo on here is not as nice as the twins either but it's good.
Yeah Cranbourne don't stock Peavey. Check out a store called Syndal Music in Syndal (coleman place is the name of the street - use google) they stock this kinda stuff and tell em I sent you. There's another shop called KC rock shop in Boronia they also sell Peavey. RRP 1495 Paid $1000
That is a really nice clean sound. I like what I hear a lot. I like darker jazzy tones, a la Metheny - I have my perceptions, as I like what I'm hearing here, but how does it fare on jazzy tones? Thanks.
Hi I am new to all this so I would like your advice?
I am looking for a blues amp suitable for home use say 5 to 15 amp with the capability to use headphones so I dont disturb the rest of the house. I love the sound of your Peavy Deltablues but it is probably a little expensive and at 30W a bit to powerful. I would like something with a similar sound, Can you suggest?
I think you are looking for a good practice amp. If you want something you can get a nice sound out of try a peavey bandit 112, peavey studio pro, fender blues jr, Kustom practice amps, Vox ac15 or something like these. please google them all and see what works :) Most brands make smaller practice amps you can use headphones with. This amp is a gigging/recording amp it's big heavy and loud :) I hope this helps.
Classic is kinda thinner than this to be honest. It's good but I heard them a few times lacked depth in my opinion. But I don't own one so I can't really compare with a A/B test.
Great videos (all of them), thanks for posting. I own the Crate V3112 with the tone tubby speaker (I like the amp a lot and I have seen your review of this amp). I am just curious how you feel the Crate V3112 Tone Tubby compares with the Peavey Delta Blues? Is there much difference between the amps? Which one do yo like better for the blues?
They are both awesome amps thanks for the comments. The crate has a nicer overdrive sound in my opinion but the Crate has a massive low end due to the 15 inch speaker. There's a "boost" switch on the Peavey that turns the tone into mud (which I actually left on in the review). With the boost off the Delta Blues is a really great amp. I like the clean tone on the crate but I feel the strength of that amp is the dirty channel.
I am reaching for the delta blues more often right now. I have played the crate heaps and think for it's size it's one of the best amps I've heard. They both have their pros and cons. If you want a classic blues tone the delta is the way to go. If you want more of a modern sound the crate wins :)

I was looking at a marshall vintage modern, but after seeing this I want one.
may I ask price? and where did you buy yours because I havn't seen one at cranbourne music.

Thanks.
I may well buy one of these at some point...

Cheers

I think you are looking for a good practice amp. If you want something you can get a nice sound out of try a peavey bandit 112, peavey studio pro, fender blues jr, Kustom practice amps, Vox ac15 or something like these. please google them all and see what works :) Most brands make smaller practice amps you can use headphones with. This amp is a gigging/recording amp it's big heavy and loud :) I hope this helps.

Cool!
Kind of funny, I'm lefty as well, play Gibby ES & LP, as well as Strat, through a Delta Blues 115...

I am trying to compare the Delta Blues with the Peavey Classic 30/112 Tube amp. Your opinions???
hog427 2 years ago
Classic is kinda thinner than this to be honest. It's good but I heard them a few times lacked depth in my opinion. But I don't own one so I can't really compare with a A/B test.

Hi Shane,
Great videos (all of them), thanks for posting. I own the Crate V3112 with the tone tubby speaker (I like the amp a lot and I have seen your review of this amp). I am just curious how you feel the Crate V3112 Tone Tubby compares with the Peavey Delta Blues? Is there much difference between the amps? Which one do yo like better for the blues?
mecco07 2 years ago
Hi Mecco07,
They are both awesome amps thanks for the comments.
