I was there, but the weather was unusual cold, yet millions of people came along to witness one of the most historic Inauguration day ever in history. I didn't mind the below freezing sunny weather if it werent for millions of people that day enough to keep us warm aside from the dangerous windchill. So i assumed the weather has made her voice sound so raspy. MC is still good.

For someone with lymph nodes on their vocal cords, I'd say Mariah is damn pro on this performance. While she was kinda waver, quality wise, during the song, the bridge was still extremely well done. It's no Tokyo Dome(1996), but it's not horrible. Better than Aretha Franklin's version.

I still remember when I first heard Someday, I was in love with Mariah... and her Daydream album was my first CD. There is a very noticeable difference in her voice. All artists either sound better or sound worse from when they began. Mariah sounds worse. I agree that she shot her voice... (example: Faith Hill). She CAN still sound great, but the vocal chords are often strained and it's noticeable. I think Mariah has noticed this too, so she "compensates" with an overly tacky sexual approach.

For someone with lymph nodes on their vocal cords, I'd say Mariah is damn pro on this performance. While she was kinda waver, quality wise, during the song, the bridge was still extremely well done. It's no Tokyo Dome(1996), but it's not horrible. Better than Aretha Franklin's version.

I still remember when I first heard Someday, I was in love with Mariah... and her Daydream album was my first CD. There is a very noticeable difference in her voice. All artists either sound better or sound worse from when they began. Mariah sounds worse. I agree that she shot her voice... (example: Faith Hill). She CAN still sound great, but the vocal chords are often strained and it's noticeable. I think Mariah has noticed this too, so she "compensates" with an overly tacky sexual approach.

If you call this singing the result of being "under the weather", then she's been "under the weather" for years. She can't sing anything like she used to, FACT, her tone, range and control are shot to pieces, personally I think all she has left is her reputation and memories of a long gone talent. She wore herself out over a period of years, that's what's wrong here, she needs to start taking much better care of her voice coz what she's doing now isn't working, in parts she's quite out of tune.

Yes I can sing...I don't scream. Screaming is not singing. In singing you can hear a melody. Anyone can scream...not everybody can sing and hold out a note. Once you have that gift no one can take it away from you...even when you get older. It comes from the heart not just for show.

Its funny, people are like I dont know why Mariah sang it this way, but if you watch some of Mariah's earlier performances she always changes it up from the recorded version, although her vocals arent as powerful as before its not crap, in fact its one of the better performances of this song shes given in a while. But I hope she rests her instrument and gets back to delivering the vocals we know shes capable of.

She has vocal nodules. That is why she doesn't sound like she used to. Those nodules can be removed by surgery, but it will take time to heal. She can also relax her voice in 2 years or something, and then she will be fine.

To those who say she's pregnant: Christina Aguilera performed in Australia (which was filmed for her Back to Basics Tour DVD) while she was 4 months pregnant. Listen to all the WONDERFUL notes she hits and holds.
