  • instructions on making your own are in MAKE magazine vol.17

There's also links on my site: beatbearing . co. uk

  • hello, great tool!

is there a chance to buy a build one?

    greetings from germany

  • Hi, thanks for asking. I've written an article for MAKE magazine with instructions, the link to my site is in the info box above. (it's beatbearing . co . uk) let me know how you get on with the build!

  • Isn't this the same as the tenorion? Except more time consuming as you have too move metal balls around... no?

  • Moving stuff is slower than pushing buttons, yes. But when did art become about efficiency?

If you're going to compare apples to oranges...

Tenori-on costs $1000+, and you're locked into the functionality provided.

Beatbearing is a DIY project you can build for $100 if you're resourceful. It's open source, and every part of it can be modified.

(Monome is a better comparison. Grid of buttons, open functionality... Still costly, though.)

  • at 1:17 it looks like he is jackingoff

  • OMFG u are a genius !!!!!!!!!!, A WE SOME !!!

  • The idea came from myself, but was influenced by the use of physical constraints in the Pico project (search for "James Patten Pico").

  • you should send this to some toy companies

  • Did the idea for the perspex grids come from users or from yourself?

  • plz make it with several tiers

  • I was there, and it was the star of the demo's!

  • You should make it into a game board that play music at the same time
