I've seen many young players play shred music or insane rock, but I'm getting kind of sick of it. Who cares if you can shred? You won't get anything much from playing this kind of music, only a bit of speed and some dexterity. And besides, shred/metal music isn't very enticing and that's what everyone's doing. Be unique! This guy should start off with music theory he'll learn more than what he can do with shredding rock music. I'm not a hater, I'm just saying my thoughts on this.

@museownz1 eh true, i mean i play metal but it's better if you learn other styles so you can incorporate them into what you want to play, but to say you won't get much of anything from playing a certain style is completely untrue, i have a friend who plays spanish style guitar, and i have a hard time doing what he does, but he has a hard time playing my style of metal and doing the solos i do.
