yes. in the harmonic series, certain notes are naturally out of tune...either a little flat, sharp, really flat, or really sharp. especially for D (played 1 & 3)...it's a naturally sharp note. so we use the slides to adjust. C# (123) is a really sharp not...so sometimes we'll use both slides (depending on how that instrument plays). Most people don't understand that just tuning one note doesn't make the whole instrument in tune. You have to use your ear and listen. I hope I helped you :D
