  • you can say he's a terrible singer 'alvaroiron' which i kind of agree, but this song did make the movie Trainspotting....well this song and heroin.

  • lou reed's catalogue has approx. 1/2 a dozen gems. his personae and style, though very narrowly focused are iconic. this song for instance, fails to do what a tune like "satellite of love" accomplishes to perfection.

  • Not such a perfect day in the ZOO! Lou! You seemed to forget yourself! Whatever animals got the Sangria must have had a PERFECT DAY! I only hope you had a Perfect Day too? (BTW theres a baby Gorilla looks just like you now)

  • metallica ruined this ;D

  • I AM THE TABLE!

  • @Blanshay no, iam the table!

  • is jason newsted there ?

  • El no encaja con METALLICA

  • buen video

  • Jajajaja... Fuck, Lou Reed drinking sangria in the zoo, then later a movie too and then changing his own lyrics, jajaja... Great song.

  • I FUCKING HATE YOU OLD MAN ! everyone bothers metallica because of you but they just took pity of you! .l. asshole!

  • @mEtalGabiiChi Yes, it's Lou's fault that Lulu is not the new Master of Puppets, because Metallica alone are absolutely capable of making a good album on their own, seeing how they did it with Death Magnetic and Load, huh? Get real. Lou saved much of Lulu. The parts that sound remotely like Metallica (by Metallica I mean Shit Magnetic) are the worst ones by far.

  • Metallica

  • @amehell shut the fuck up

  • @DethThrasher1 Lick mir am Arsch! ich sage Metallica

  • love the recorded version of this song. This is alright though, not a patch on the original though!

  • just a perfect day...

  • Terrible singer, sorry about that

  • @alvaroiron terrible singer? i bet u didnt know him before...go to hell

  • Lou Reed is a God.

  • 127 people don't drink Sangria in the zoo.

  • José María Arguedas came by bus from La Oroya to Lima,

    in your headphones listening to Lou Reed;

the hills outside wet rain entering it through the hole of the bullet.

That Perfect Day mixed with the rain started falling Nostalgia

the crystal clear vision of the window.

Jose Maria Arguedas (Poet and writer of Peruvian Indian)

  • try heroin to this song. this is way better than the official one.

  • whats wrong wth him ? why doesn't he perform that live ??? its a good singer but come on !!

  • You wanna listen to it just like the studio version? Play it on cd.

Live versions are always gonna sound different, and the authors have the right to make a mess out of their songs. For instance, last year that Radiohead came to Mexico, they were gonna play Exit Music but Ed entered out of time and, when they restarted, Thom forgot the lyrics, after that they decided not to play it. And they ain't gonna lose their fans just because of that. Or are they? Long live Lou Reed...

  • I love Lou Reed but he skin really bad here.

  • They with Metallica? Well, the future just will know.

  • Le Gainsbourg américain...

Superbe version live d'un titre magnifique.

    Perfect.

  • This guy fukin sucks, METALLICA ROCKS!!!!!!

  • @mustkillbarney121 : You are really stupid.... :-)

  • @mustkillbarney121 haha dude your a fucking idiot. if you dont like it, you can at least admit he doesnt suck. your little mettalica fuckheads would respect this guy, as does anybody who knows about music, and knows what a genius the man was. i hope that you slowly burn alive you fucking faggot cunt. eat my shit you pussy metallica douchebag

  • @cwrees calm down and be nice to people

  • Who the fuck drinks sangria in the zoo? Do they allow that?

  • @TomHoole he sing: drink Sangria in a park, what ever this is a joke-song, so I`m think

  • @TomHoole Europe

  • @TomHoole No indeed, nowadays this is not allowed. Neither smoking. But back then the life was much more...hmm...lifelike.

  • @TomHoole Lou does :)))

  • @TomHoole He drinks sangria in the park and feeds animals in the zoo , yes you still can do that :-p

  • @TomHoole I think that in the US you can do anything .. its a free country ! Like Put "Baby in Spikes ! Its an american dream !" Anyway... they call it Monkey Sangria !

  • I love this man. I love this song!

  • great

  • I like the Pavarotti version much better. That one was so uniquely New York. Love Luciano's facelift.

  • Yes, this is our Lou-fucking-Reed, man. And he himself told he forgets the lyrics and makes a mess sometimes. either because he's drunk or his mind isn't the same at his age. I don't like the version, and it doesn't matter, cz we love him the same.

  • poor fucker cant sing for shit. he wrecks the song ofr me to be honest. but still think hes great fella. pavarotti sang it well.

  • People keep saying "So what? He wrote the song. He's Lou fucking Reed." But what does that have to do with people disliking this rendition? Stop with the blind idol worship and ad hominem. I personally love Lou Reed but hate this version.

  • Metallica pulls out an album with Lou Reed

  • @pilartxo i also heard that, kinda sucks acctually..

  • @iamtrond until now metallica didn't made a bad album, let us listen first.. judge second

  • He can do whatever the fuck he wants, he's Lou Reed for fucks sake! I'll be seeing him live in a couple of weeks at Hop Farm and I can't wait!!

  • genio

  • He fucked up the lyrics, so what. He wrote an incredible song that has lived on for over 30 years.

  • you make me forget myself

  • what? wasn't he satisfied by the original lyrics so he decided to try to change it while performing? why? i mean, the original version is very cool in my opinion! whateva

  • you just keep my hanging on

  • Don't big time musicians just mess with their songs lyrics and change the music of their most famous songs a bit so they don't get bored out of their minds singing the same songs 10000 times? I'm sure he didn't "forget" the lyrics.

  • Amazing musicians , Amazing song !

  • 108 People never drank Sangria in the Park.......

  • @Ozzias 109. They haven't perfect days.

  • @Ozzias swiete slowa ;)

  • Lou Reed is the perfect example of being able to find your market. I don't get it...but you can't deny his fan base. Good for him...I'm no hater. ;)

  • Um dia perfeiro....só passado a teu lado.

  • Sing it Lou.. As a guitar player, I can see he is in a zone in this video.. Pouring his soul out like an artery bleeding. Enjoy all who views this,.

  • IMPROVISATION thats the real soul of a true artist

  • Actually I did know who Lou Reed was/is, I am just surprised that SB came up with such a different rendition of this song, I love her performance.

  • xilies fores prezakias

  • Such an amazing version... almost made me cry. See you on the 17th of July Lou. :)

  • @LanfeustDeGlinin a carhaix!!! vieilles charrues!! yeeeeeees!

  • war r u dumb fucks talkin bout this is r8

  • Some people really think this song about a woman!

  • @Katzenweib1

    Yeah......it's about his drugs.

  • Uma boa canção do Luís Estaca, mas não a melhor

  • Lou voice is genius just how it is so what its dry thats why its perfect

  • such a perfect day, i'm glad to spent it with u~~~~~~~~~~

  • 680 positive votes, 96 negative votes, 96 morons

  • the dude at 1:23 is looking in weird directions

  • His voice is so bad but he tries so hard to sing well that it makes the song even more beautiful.

  • Watch My Cover :D I'm 16 :) Subscribe & Comment my video's (: Thanks ! <3

  • This is my fave version of this.

  • hes singing it so weird, i love this song but i wish he would have stuck to the tune a bit more. otherwise, brilliant XD

  • this version maid just suck but he still had very nice suzuki in early eighties, so he is cool forever to me

  • being that he can't sing well, this fact must be taken into consideration. Therefore, I found his performance great cuz it sounds like he's really trying. I luv this!

  • I don't understand you guys complaining about him singing differently. Do you really care that much if he didn't modulate his voice as much as you expected or didn't sing this and that word exactly as supposed too... I mean, JB can do that too, it doesn't mean that the performance is worse. I really appreciate it when artists play the way they feel and not try to follow rules, because that's when you know they're sincere and not money-thirsty hypocrites.

  • He makes it sound like someone who is tired of playing his own music. It isn't even a shadow of the studio recording. Really, this has nothing to do with art. It's either drugs or a total shortage of musical feeling.

  • @jd3500 I never thought of it that way, but your comment makes me wonder if he is really just tired of his own music and just bored with it. I do find it annoying that every song seems like is played this way. I think I'll just stick to the studio stuff.

  • @sammy1324 Well, I might have been a little harsh in my judgement. Being able to create those songs is enough proof to show that you're an artist. But for me the live performance have always been very important. I like studio stuff, but there is nothing like the real thing...seeing and hearing live! Maybe his way of performing live appeals to a lot of people, I find it quite disappointing though. I'll do like you, stick to the studio stuff :).

  • I actually almost prefer this version...

  • drink sangria in the zoo = feed animals in the park ? Fuck U man :)

  • everytime he did it live, it was crap

  • mini-artykuł o Lou Reedzie. Całkiem ciekawy w moim mniemaniu

    zepsutapozytywka. blog. onet. pl/Lou-Reed-muzyk,2,ID417353909,DA2010-11-20,n

    (tylko spacje trzeba pousuwać)

  • What the fuck? This sounds shit, why does he always sing his records different to the original recording???? SHITE!

  • @MOONST0MP narcissism my friend. your being selfish, he's trying to fuck with I.

  • Merry Christmas to you all and please metsaintaanni try to have "just a perfect day" as possible

  • lou. period.

  • Hello suckers merry christmas ! I am very lonely and I take anything to helped my pain.

  • Nice

  • wez is right you don't have to be a good singer to be a good musician.

I just said he was not really a singer!

  • He could never really sing!

  • @Motarmstrong You don't need to be able to sing to be a good musician Gimp boy

  • @wez8619 yea but it helps!

  • I'm disapointed in this. Lou can do so much better.

  • All of his live performances suck but his original recording was so passionate it's unbelievable. You could tell he was hurting and needed that addiction, live performances suck.. no feeling.

  • such a perfect song, but not this version :(

  • Comment removed

  • worthless crap as usual.

Why does this guy play music anyway?

  • lol i too mix it always up when i play this song on my guitar. drink sangria in a park/ the zoo... this song gives so much

  • ele num tava muito afim de cantar parece uahauh

  • brother lou-i wish i could have known andy warhol, like you know him. you are his memeries. thank you

  • don't know what's wrong with you guys i love this performance : )

  • @pennerunderthebridge please listen to the original, the performance is dreadful.

  • FUCKING DAY !!!!!

  • Lous perfect day is all about -smack or scag or just plane heroin-, its perfectly obvious it should be an upper downer song coz thats how you feel on that stuff so dont do it for your own sake .jj7

  • hahaha! he sells madness!

  • Lou, it's too bad you couldn't be here tonight.

  • what a perfect song

  • i love this song, even if he screws up the lyrics :P

  • Lovely! Drink Sangria in the zoo?!? Heheh....probably more appropriate for the meaning of the song than feed animals...

  • LR has never been accused of being a good singer but OMG what a massacre.

I would have died of embarassment singing like this in public. Yeah yeah...i know its LOU REED, but be serious people. LOL

  • OMG he is terrible and he would not let SUSAN BOYLE sing his song, it was NASTY to tell her NO 2 hours before show time. Were you drugged or just notified? This is TERRIBLE, she would have done the song HONOR

    SHAME ON YOU

  • @bd9598 meh...the song is HIS romance with heroin. she doesn't need to be singing it.

  • @kenslinks They all sing songs that others have written or performed and it's a PLUS in my book that she is not using heroin, too much personal tradegy in the family because of substance abuse, that's why I am clean and sober and have been all of my ilfe, seeing the rest of them in the family was not hard fo decide to NEVER be like them. Peace.

  • nice

  • Dit is gespeeld geworden op onze trouw in Koekelberg in 2001 !

  • I love the dance version much more. It's more up beat, and believable

  • A perfect day, a perfect performance from a man who has been there.

  • it's about a day out in the city with his friend "Heroin"...why would Susan Boyle want to sing this and turn it into a Marlo Thomas song?

  • "I'm a perfect ass... you can't sing my song... because I don't like you."

  • Boy, this is really, REALLY crap...

  • fuck this im gonna listin to the studio version haha

  • All these people who have no idea who this guy is are hilarious. Lou is not known for his voice.

  • @gtrplyr AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!

  • @gtrplyr Yes, he is.

  • Comment removed

  • murder polis, get me tae fuck outa here!

  • Shame Lou Reed...!!! Susan's Boyle cover on The Perfect Day

is one millions time better than your original...!!!

I say only Shame for you Lou Reed...!!!

  • @jaguilos2345 Susan Boil has no idea what this song (a love song to heroin) means to the life of someone has BEEN THERE like the Lou Reed.

  • what a sucker...go die loser!

  • yooo dude, you sound like my ass.. on a perfect day..

  • Fuck you Lou Reed. Why don't you like Susan Boyle?

    You sucks

  • @Brunoxpto1 so does susan boyle

    haha

  • The vast majority of you just don't get it. Do you?

  • @alexbepstein no, they don't get it, it's not a song meant to be sung by a choir full of kids, Susan boyle maybe, but a choir of kids, nope.

  • Comment removed

  • @TMundo because the song is like a ballad about heroin. He's not singing it about spending the day with a person. He singing about spending the day high. So a choir full of little kids singing it isn't appropriate.

  • Is Lou Reed a giant douche or a turd sandwich for not allowing Susan Boyle to sing his song at America's Got Talent. Please sign in and voice your opinion. Or you can write in your own description. Personally I think he is a smelly asshole.

  • @Clifcar - surely you must be trolliing? How could he possibly let someone like subo spoil his work. SuBo reminds me of "blue waffle disease" - go google it and see if you agree.

  • What a hideous voice. Does he really think he can sing ??

Please bury his mouth is a sand dune.

Has he ever had a Perfect Day. I doubt it. Maybe on a drug day.

  • Rubish, get a Voice or get of the sause

  • sounds like an asshole!!

  • Well that was depressing. Guess that is what heroin is all about.

  • 48 people didn't have a Perfect day

  • Like the other perfect day better.

  • The sad thing about this song, is that he wasn't singing about a woman. It was the heroin that mades (t)his day perfect. ._."

  • Fantastci song, but the version that choose is horrible.

  • perfect week

  • I love this version.

  • Lou always gives you the feeling when he plays live that he's gonna forget the words or the guitar part. But then courageously remembers and it brings a good feeling because you found yourself rooting for him.

  • if you think he messed it up... you dont understand Lou Reed, or Dylan, or Bob, or Bob, or Jimi... they are the messed up man! rock!!

  • @cacasarq haha true in a way... espessially lou reed is totally messed up! that's why he's lou reed

  • he totally messed it up...

  • @aaxal Crisp observation! He did. And why did he? What did you expect to hear?

  • @exentr I expected to hear little of the main melody, at least...But I can hear weird improvisation, that's what I don't like in this video...

it's like he's singing different song...

  • @aaxal LOL

  • @aaxal It's his song, so he can chose to bring it however he wants. We should be glad we have multiple versions to appreciate instead of just one studio version.

  • @desmurfenzijnblauw true true, but this version is so different that i don't like it at all.

  • @aaxal your mother

  • @aaxal Who cares...it's his bloody song, he wrote it he can turn it into whatever he wants to.

  • @Thejbirdy ok..but then i bloody don't like the way he turned it into whatever he wanted to.

  • @aaxal Yes but this is commonplace for musicians, I've seen this time and again when they forget their lines.

Have a look at the Beatles performance on the rooftop @ Apple studios. Lennon TOTALLY forgets a line and spouts gobbledegook.

Nothing new and it really shouldn't be a big deal.....

  • @Thejbirdy but i don't mind he messed up the lyrics...whatever...but what i really don't like about this performance is that he's singing it in such a weird way that i nearly ask myself: is it really Perfect Day?

  • @aaxal But this is Lou Reed, I saw him live only once but he tends to kind of "rap' his songs, I don't know why either and I don't enjoy t so much myself.

The Rolling Stones did that when I saw them back in the earlier days, now they're much more detail-oriented but Jagger just kind of yelled the words. Eeeeeesh.

  • Perfecto!!!

  • 2 movies and some sangria in the park and in the zoo too. Might scare off a first date with that itinerary but good luck.

  • @mumulove

lou's double entendre is dedicated to those that cause us to run screaming from a room into the night & beyond. the song makes fun of the ridiculous and creepy that we share the planet with...at the time they were called straight. you can get the song's meaning thru two little words in how they're spoken: 'what fun'

  • Yes Lou wake up!! Sangrai in the ZOO!!

  • fuck ... lou reed is horny !
