  • Super strong pull. Definitely, when you incorporate some hang cleans, you'll break 300lbs right away !

  • Thanks Richard. I sure hope so. 300lbs would be nice. 250 held me up for a month or so. Pretty frustrating for a while. I am finally getting a feel for the movement though.

  • You pulled that plenty high to POWER clean that weight... the bar was forward when you received it, so your recovery was harder than it needed to be. You actually look pretty good here! If you can whip the elbows and "guide" the bar into your receiving position smoothly, you should be full-cleaning well over 300lbs with that pull, and powercleaning 275 without breaking a sweat.

  • Thanks for the feedback Mezzie. I have trouble getting inder the bar quickly, so I tend to pull the bar too high to compensate for this.

Any tips on improving quickness under the bar?

  • You have plenty of speed and explosiveness based on other things I've seen you do, so it's just a matter of learning what it feels like to do it right. You can try Squat cleans from the hang, starting above mid-thigh, just below waist height. No recoil, just get the bar into position, explode up about 2 inches, and receive it smoothly in a full squat. You'd be amazed how much pop you can get with only a couple of inches of pull!
