The Japanese movie industry isn't exactly that great either . You'd be hardpressed to find any live-action movies in Japan that can challenge the likes of "The Dark Knight".

I applaud Japan for their mangas, games, and anime. But not their live-action movie industry.

If I had it my way, I would want the South Korean movie industry to make Gantz instead.

But the problem with Korea is that they could care less about Sci-Fi... at least to my knowledge.

@rockleex, yes, the movie "The Host" is a huge box office smash in Korea because it's a romantic comedy, huge man-eating monsters notwithstanding. Your knowledge of Korean cinema is lacking.

Korea will never get to make something like Gantz. Hollywood would do it, if they can make everyone white and take out all the good parts.

@ibitoshi Hollywood has messed up so many Asian movies that I no longer trust them... unless it was Leo DeCaprio or Christopher Nolan making it. Btw, rumor is that Leo's planning to make Akira. Hopefully that will open the doors for Gantz to be made in Hollywood! >:D

What's the rating for this film anyway? I hope they stayed true to the violence and nudity of the manga and anime ^_^

Unfortunately, it sounds like they aren't going to. The movie is being targeted at a "general audience," so a lot of the violence and nudity is probably going to get toned down. There haven't been any actual ratings mentioned yet, but I'm guessing it's going to be more PG-13 range from what I've read so far about it, which totally sucks ass IMO.

How far along are you in the manga?

Most people prefer stories/mangas/movies that are either totally unrealistic, or tries to be totally realistic.

Gantz uses characters with realistic personalities and puts them into unbelievable situations, and then shows you how a normal person would react in that situation. Kind of like Lost.

That's what makes Gantz so interesting to its fans.

Another great thing about Gantz is that they mix in all the greatest stuff I've ever loved into it.

Sci-Fi, gore, romance, lust, psychology, social dynamics, aliens, martial arts, telekinesis, vampires, etc etc.

But they do it so amazingly well! ^_^

Tae hasn't been ugly for years. She was introduced as an ugly girl but her design was drastically changed. Nowadays she looks more idol-like than Reika. The same thing can be said about Nishi and Kurono, they used to be average guys but now they look like pop singers.
