I played linebacker in college and had too many injuries and one of them required surgery. Padding in footbll is required by law because too many players were killed in the past from vicious tackles. No one has died in AFL. If no one gets killed in your game that doesn't use protection, then there's NOTHING they can do to me that I didn't get it worse in football, padding or not. All I remember is that he was black and played in the back line but never played a proper game.You also have no idea about size as the average height of players is 6'2 and they weigh less than NFL players because of the huge distances they run every game. I play Footie and grew up playing American football. I never have hit nor been hit harder then when I was wearing pads. I tended to hit harder in American football because i was protected. In Australian Rule, Footie, I and a lot of people that play are more cautious and tackle more affectively instead of crushing someone. Sav is a beast and that was a legal hit except for the helmet to helmet. A punt is like an interception. If you are trying to make a play you are considered fair game.
That's the thing with NFL hits. They look grand, and technically they might have more what in science we call 'force'.
But they're not as hard when you look at it realistically. Because at the end of the day the hits don't hurt much. The injury rates in NFL are quite low considering.

Our Sport has got twice the athletes as anything you offer down under. Rugby is tough, however, no one in rugby is running near the speed, that even our NFL's linebackers run. The reason for the pads is for the longevity of ones playing career.
You have different types of athletes though. You've got guys whose entire career is just to run as fast as they can and try catch a ball thrown to them so obviously they'll be slightly smaller but a lot quicker, then players whose job is to stand in front of the quarterback and shield him so they'll be slower but considerably bigger. Rugby and even AFL find more of a middle ground between the 2

AFL and NRL players do much more cardio exercise than in the NFL. They have to be strong fast and run all day where as in the NFL they only need to bed strong and fast in short patches. It was years ago. I cant remember his name. All I remember is that he was black and played in the back line but never played a proper game.You also have no idea about size as the average height of players is 6'2 and they weigh less than NFL players because of the huge distances they run every game. Look at the AFL players that have moved to NFL,they have all put on a tonne of weight because of the lack of cardio workout.

I play Footie and grew up playing American football. I never have hit nor been hit harder then when I was wearing pads. I tended to hit harder in American football because i was protected. In Australian Rule, Footie, I and a lot of people that play are more cautious and tackle more affectively instead of crushing someone. Sav is a beast and that was a legal hit except for the helmet to helmet. A punt is like an interception. If you are trying to make a play you are considered fair game.

Our Sport has got twice the athletes as anything you offer down under. Rugby is tough, however, no one in rugby is running near the speed, that even our NFL's linebackers run. The reason for the pads is for the longevity of ones playing career.

You've got guys whose entire career is just to run as fast as they can and try catch a ball thrown to them so obviously they'll be slightly smaller but a lot quicker, then players whose job is to stand in front of the quarterback and shield him so they'll be slower but considerably bigger. AFL and NRL players do much more cardio exercise than in the NFL. They have to be strong fast and run all day where as in the NFL they only need to bed strong and fast in short patches. Id like to see a player that can bench 500lbs run 16km in a game. If you get to big in AFL or NRL you are useless after 10 minutes of running and its game over.
