@experimentalcake in judo, jiu jitsu and aikido we practice these rolls "armless" too. So, its yes you can. However, its a bit of a risk on a hard surface since the fingers and tricep provide a surprising amount of spring and margin for error to the surface.
@experimentalcake yes, just be careful of the impact on your shoulder. The hands are used to post so you can set your shoulder down softly. But mess around and see what works best for you.
i love this move!!! it saved me today.. i ran and accidentally somehow ran to a place where there was a reaaaally long fall... i should have broke my legs.. but this move saved me!! :DDD just here to rewatch this and post this comment... you NEEED this move b4 u learn PK!!! REMEMBER!!!
@MrEmoji good call. I know alot of people go diagonally, I do too to some extent. I like to keep my weight mostly on my shoulders as they are much stronger than my hips. But yeah man, lots of people like the shoulder to waist version as well.
@AnomalyFreerunning i think you shouldn't concentrate to explain this in details like "when you go down your should look back" because some people may concentrate to look back and to not do the proper movement and getting injured. I know they will try this slow the first time but i don't like it. It's a natural movement that comes out by itself when you need to not get injured. People should understand to do the best natural movement to not get injured in any situation.
@xirolf let me preficiate this by saying im not trying to start a big argument. But i do love factually supported debates. I disagree as with any sport you must learn the mechanics in order to do a move properly and safely. If you dont not go over the details of what works, doesnt work and why, that is when people get hurt. It only becomes a natural movement after continuous practice. But just like in parkour, once you have the fundamental structure down you tweak it to make it your own style.
Wow in all videos you explain really good and all and it looks pretty safety, but I'm too much of a coward to try to do the tricks... But anyways great videos and maybe I'll someday get the guts to try one of the tricks :3
@FallenSabre you are totally correct man. There are multiple versions of PK rolls, each one has different merits. This is the style i use most and like best. But yeah man, nice catch.
@strengthproject i'm just kidding :P, anyhow if i have a chance to say anything to you as you have answered to me for the first time, i'd like to say thanks for every video and everything you do for people and sending us so much positive energy, I wish you all the best. keep doing what youre doing and stay positive ;]
P.S. This move comes from jiu-jitsu i know it cause ive been training it for almost 7 years now :)

Important to note you should be rolling diagonally across your back from your right shoulder to your left waist for example.

@littlesoldiergraba actually you hit it right on the head. Newhope, the gym we film at was built and painted back in the early 70s. (72 I think.)
AnomalyFreerunning 1 month ago
@titanhondo The wall of flags in the gym were painted back in 72 I believe, its a pretty old place.
