It is all about connection, but not your's. Hosts, and sometimes hosts connection doesn't care about your shots. This isn't the only game where bullshit occurs, CoD4, but atleast it doesn't happen nearly as much, or rarely at all. I truly enjoy halo, but not when I get owned because one of my BR shots didn't count, ugh.

Lag or not, this happens often. I suspect either the network or hit registry component is not quite up to snuff. Halo 3 does seem particularly bad for this, compared to other online FPS that I've played. Disagree if you like, I don't care.

2. that is lag, not failing of headshot recognition. all of those shots were unnecesary as the first shot would have registered, and it did... when he died. that is a bad host.

and so you know.. blood is run off your own xbox.. which is why he didnt die straight away. blood would lag the game that much if u had a good host, if it were all run off the host.

your right, this might be lag, but this is a constant issue that many ppl have in halo 3 online, i don't know how they did it correctly in halo 2 (personally my opinion), but they screwed it up in halo 3 (again my opinion) in sniping terms of course, bottom line i like halo 2 better for physics and play, but halo 3 has forge, camera, and better graphics, but they screwed with the gameplay too much.

your gun was in a wall, the bullet wasn't actually reaching his head, the stream for a bullet comes from the spartans head but the bullet comes from the gun (thats why it looked like you were hitting him) i guarantee you moved your location for the 5th shot. also the blood animation happens when a stream hits something not the bullet itself. problem solved

just something i noticed in the case that the sniper rifle holds only 4 shots per mag. if it took you 5 shots to kill him, it would have taken you time to reload. plus the one shot off his hand, that makes 6, and it seemed as though you only reloaded after the shot before he came out into the open. not saying you're lying, just saying it's something i noticed.
