@ciarab3thany Actually, a pagan winter festival existed long before the alleged time of christ. The religious christmas didnt make an appearance until about the 10th-11th century. Most christmas customs such as feasting, trees, presents etc were directly taken from these pagan traditions.

This was a different time, and Christmas wasn't so commercialized as it is today. Now it's all about advertisement of products and pressure of what to buy. It feels so nice to travel back in time. I remember going to Ontario Canada to my grandparents and spending Christmas with them, playing in the snow and watching my grandfather light up the big evergreen out front. Christmas is very special to me, keep reminiscing folks.
i am only 21 and i completely agree, i wish christmas was sentimental these days, it was when i was very young but it seems like now it has been ruined. i miss the days when i was little and it was just normal for me to walk down a street and say hello to people. yes of course, the fact is that most christmas songs were originally written in german and when you translate it the phonetics will change and hence the song cannot superior like it really was in the original language, for example the song "mack the knife / Die Mörität von Macki Messer" is in german still awesome when you hear Berthold Brecht even though english speaking people has better voices

Good luck with that attitude. It got you guys NOWHERE in the last election. Andy's a great guy and very talented. I don't care what his political preference is. He's a great American just like me. In the good old days, Liberals and Conservatives could come together and discuss things without all the intolerance.

yeah you are right..in the old days we got along. That was before you liberals labeled every christian an lunatic, every person who wants to keep their labor greedy, and everyone who disagrees with obama as a racist. I remember Andy Williams from the early 1960's and thinking that he was "OK" at the time. Now that I listen to him all these years later, I realize what a star he is. He has a lot of class, something that I hope comes back real soon. Hopefully, people are starting to see the light again after what's been going on in our country. Merry Christmas to all!

@ciarab3thany Actually, a pagan winter festival existed long before the alleged time of christ. The religious christmas didnt make an appearance until about the 10th-11th century. Most christmas customs such as feasting, trees, presents etc were directly taken from these pagan traditions.

I have to agree with you guys. I really, truly do miss the old christmas times where everyone in our families would just gather to have fun together. Too many kids nowadays like Christmas just for the presents.

This was a different time, and Christmas wasn't so commercialized as it is today. Now it's all about advertisement of products and pressure of what to buy. It feels so nice to travel back in time. I remember going to Ontario Canada to my grandparents and spending Christmas with them, playing in the snow and watching my grandfather light up the big evergreen out front. Christmas is very special to me, keep reminiscing folks.

i am only 21 and i completely agree, i wish christmas was sentimental these days, it was when i was very young but it seems like now it has been ruined. i miss the days when i was little and it was just normal for me to walk down a street and say hello to people. I still say hello to older people now, but sadly they look shocked now, its not normal to be kind or polite anymore :( this song is real christmas, it makes me want to sit around a fire with my family, if only.

I agree with you. It seems that the values and virtues that were possessed by those who belong in the past had gone already. I remember the movie entitled Blast from the past from what you have stated. I hope there are still some people like you. I also regret of what is happening now in our country. God bless

yes of course, the fact is that most christmas songs were originally written in german and when you translate it the phonetics will change and hence the song cannot superior like it really was in the original language, for example the song "mack the knife / Die Mörität von Macki Messer" is in german still awesome when you hear Berthold Brecht even though english speaking people has better voices

Most Christmas songs were written in German? Hardly. That's not to say that many were. My favorite "O Little Town of Bethlehem" for example was written in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
