@Sevv921 Skill level of a person can also go so much. Many of the moves I see up there are pretty much useless. Moves are way to big and exaggerated for real life application. They probably ham it up since it is for the show.
The martial art in combat zone is used as to strengthen not only your body but your MIND as well. This evidence was proven when Korean marines faced Vietcongs in the "Battle of Tra Binh Dong" when only under 300 Korean marines successfully defended against 2400 Vietcongs. It is said at the near end they ran out of ammo and was turned into hand-to-hand combat. Kill death ratio was 25:1, Still think martial art is useless in combat?
There are alot of things yall fail to realize. When we (martial artists) put on a demonstration. We use prearranged techniques. We use high kicks and such to "wow" a audience. Just becouse we use it for a demonstration,it does not meen we will use them like that in real life. I mainly kick from the groin down. My main target are the kneecaps. Yet a do high kicks in demonstrations.
I liked it OK. But way to much high kicking to be battlefield practical. Boots, uniforms, equipment, and environment. I am not taking anything away from them. It just does not seem all that practical in the real world of ground combat.
@600013818 no this is ONLY taekwondo, there is no other arts in this.
if u look at what tkd really is its the evolution of hapkido, karate and traditional arts such as taekkyon into one martial art. It is an art designed for combat supremecy with powerful kicking, throws pucnhes elbows etc. Everyone in the korean army trains to a minimum of first dan black belt
I don't think it's just for show. All special forces and just about any other type of military force trains in hand to hand combat/cqb, because you never know.
In South Korea military, only Army Special Wafare Command(SWC) allow female to join the unit. Other spec ops unit in Navy, Airforce, Marine still don't allow that. Actually, even Army female trooper can't join Special Forces Brigade as A-team member but support unit or instructor are allowed in SF brigade. Combat female troop directly belong to Army SWC, almost them serve in there training with 707Battalion, ROK best of best spec ops unit. In this vid, Men are 707, Women are female trooper.

@Sevv921 Hand to hand situation rarely happens. And it doesn't go down like they are practicing. 99.999 % it starts and ends with guns.

its not only tkd but judo, hapkido, and everything
600013818 2 years ago
More hapkido, which is influenced by all those things. But I don't think its very effective at each of those things.
They probably learn a derivative of HKD which is called Tukongmusul

it's just for the show. In reality, none of these guys would get into a hand to hand combat with a terrorist. It's a shoot to kill.
