It's only a matter of opinion. The beginning was promising, but somewhere around 0:30 the first violinist starts dragging his bow across the string like it's frozen or something. Mind you, I liked the oboe player. As for being cold, I would expect them to play a little more energetically so as to warm up a bit. I prefer musicians who don't let a little weather cool their passion, if they have it at all.

I'm not sure but I think I might know what you are talking about... in his hand, when he is coming down on the downbow, the bow turns a little, and that will make a slightly different sound, but it is a simple mistake and even more simple to correct (which he immediately does)

I love the piano, and I also play the contrabass. (kind of.) Way back when I was a little seventh grader, I didn't expect to see a giant violin on a stick instead of an electric bass...and our Maestro (as we affectionately called him) was extremely feisty and was a virtuoso violinist. So after six years of playing with a human fireball, this is passionless for me. As I say, it's a matter of opinion. Do you play anything as well?

Ah I see :D. Yes, I play violin (though not as well as I'd like) and I had an awesome teacher, I also play a little piano, although I can't do that right now because my dad is remodeling the living room, and all the funiture went to over rooms, and the piano is now not accessible :(

So it is a clarinet in the video. Also playing in the cold is extremely hard to master because of the effect it has on the intonation. Especially for a wind instrument its tough. All instruments are affected. I do understand you comment on passion though. However passion can be smooth and slow and still effect people emotionally. I dont know bow techniques or anything I only play wind instruments so I cannot speak for the violins level of expertise.

For the cellist, at least, I know that low temperature = low humidity, so the top of the cello contracts and changes the tone for the worse.

Also, in really cold weather the cello can crack, and I think it's the same for violins.
