John Candy is awesome, and I don't doubtthe camping with him would be anything short of a blast, but THIS is pretty questionable. I mean, everything's so FAST! It kinda' makes me a bit concerned.
RIP John Candy...I remember this show from my childhood, but I had no idea it was John Candy doing a voice of his cartoon self until we watched Uncle Buck :-D
@DeadRaymanWalking Thanks to Youtube I finally got to make that discovery, too. The German dubbed version had a voice actor who sounded like he was in his late teens. And he sang the theme song in tune…which made it only half as funny. The voice actor did a decent job, but if you ever heard the original you just don't want to go back. John Candy had a very nice voice…one of the few high-pitched male voices that don't have that annoying streak in them.
@Greggo2 yes, Harry wrote this. I was shocked when I found out he had written the 60s theme song for Courtship of Eddies Father too. An unappreciated talent.
@Greggo2 I think the proof's in the pudding. Have you ever heard another kids' show theme song that sounds like this?
You can also find his name in the credits of some of the full episodes posted on YouTube. "Title song by Harry Nilsson, sung by Harry Nilsson & John Candy".
@Dshyt99 I will be happy to join you. I liked this song "At CAMP CANDYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" (That was fun!!!) // I remember someone where I used to work who would greet us in the morning the same way John Candy would here. Even though she didn't say, "Happy Campers!!" It would still be in the same spirit, "Gooood Morning EEEEEEveery bodyyy!" :)
well moving on i remebered yesterday that my sister was using the computer and i was playing the ps2 we were talking about cartoons when i asked her about a hamster show she remebered it was hamtaro while she was searching for the intro on her i pod touch she told about this show camp candy i sounds awesome
Man! I just turned 24 two days ago, I was justing sitting back thinking about how much fun tv was back then. I miss these shows soo much, if there was a channel that only showed this classic 90s cartoons (apart from boomerang) I would never shut my tv off. I'd get so fat I wouldn't be able to get off the couch.
im the same,,, I ask anyone if they remember this cartoon and the answer I get back is No.... I'm 28 now and still remember those days..... was a great cartoon series... loved it :)
I remember waking up early on Saturday morning to catch shows on NBC like this, The New Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, Captain N: The Game Master, Yo Yo Yogi, and the Karate Kid cartoon. Good times, good times.
@RadRetro I am doing a verbal survey and finding the results sad - It seems kids today do not watch Saturday morning cartoons anymore. With the advent of whole networks dedicated to pumping out cartoons 24x7, Saturday morning cartoons are obsolete, replaced with infomercials and the like. Too bad for those non-cable kids.
Ye me 2, too bad they only made 19 episodes in total.
So as kids that looks much, but actually you've already seen it all. I guess that if I start watching it now that I can watch it 1 time and that I'm bored afterwards.
However, cartoon makers, are making more and more and more unrealistic toons, not even in a nice toony style drawn. It's all so abstract and even stories are abstract.
How are kids even supposed to learn from cartoons when they've thrown out all the good ones.
I love all u ultra cool people who type in keyword CAMP CANDY and then write in a text comment. OH I HATED THIS SHOW, WHEN I WAS 6 I KNEW THIS SHOW WAS LAME. CUZ I WAS THE COOLEST 6 YR OLD AROUND. @BILLBERRY1000 fucking HILARIOUS. i totally agree. omg. im dying. lmfao @ "OH I HATED THIS SHOW, WHEN I WAS 6 I KNEW THIS SHOW WAS LAME. CUZ I WAS THE COOLEST 6 YR OLD AROUND."
I think John Candy's okay, but I don't know what made him agree to take part in a show based on him. Good lord, the intro is presented in a way that drones on for so long (held notes, off-key singing, repetitive organ) that I wanted to blow my brains out.
I first heard of this show when I was six, and even then I knew to stay away from it.
I hardly remember any of these episodes, but I remember this show.
I would defenitly have John Candy as a camp leader=) He seems to be a really nice guy=) Why must every nice person die?! My dad was one of the nice persons on earth. He died in cancer in February;(
My dad was a nice guy. John Candy was a nice guy. Why did they and every nice people out there have to die?!!!
The theme song was written by the late Harry "Without You" Nilsson. Both Nilsson and John Candy died in 1994.
Lyrics: The tree lights/The bee bites/The bark of the moonlight//The quietness of darkness/And stories told by the firelights//The long nights, the food fights/A summer made of memories at Camp Candy (Moonlight, sunshine/Rainy days and wet/Nah ...//At Camp Candy)
Spoken: "Good morning, happy campers! Let there be no end!"
man it brought my precious childhood memories back..i grew up with thundercats, superman, campcandy, heman, wizard shapers ......oh my ..how can i forget these cartoons....they constitute my lonely past
Am i the only one who misses his childhood when he hears old songs like this?I love being an adult (im 29)but times were much more easy and complexed back then!
'but times were much more easy and complexed back them.'
'Complex' normally refers to things being more complicated.
