Goku himself didn't really kill Buu. He had to use the spirit bomb which is mostly compared of energy OTHER than his own. Not to mention Vegeta saved his ass by wishing his power back. I understand your point though. I would have liked to see Gohan fight later on after Pan was born but all of DBGT sucked in my opinion so not much you can do. Goten was even less developed. ....same goes for Pan.

very true and as for GT i refuse to acknowledge its existence. in my eyes the DBZ saga ended with the Buu Saga. I still say it should have ended with the Cell Saga since Goku finally stayed Dead for once but on the whole the Buu Saga wasn't too bad

Yea, I was never a fan of the Buu Saga.  It had good points, but I thought fusion was really cheesy and they made Buu a weird character that turned people in chocolate....I draw the line there. Cell was the perfect saga to end it all, especially with Gohan and all. Not to say they couldn't have continued it all, but after the Cell saga, the series went really weird.

Actually it's been said that Gohan/Trunks/Goten they're not pure blooded saiyans so they can't reach a level past SSJ2. Goku and Vegeta are the only pure blooded saiyans left hence they were able to ascend beyond SS2, Goku at least (with out the help of Bulma's gay beam). Their sons can't surpass ss2 because they're not pure blooded, Gotenks was an expetion due to the fusion.

A) Another factor is the matter of focus on training... most halfbloods lose focus eventfully; only the pure maintain it.

B) Gohan since Cell hasn't trained at all, so as a result he couldn't reach SSJ2 easily... only with his full potential unlocked can he possibly rival an SSJ3 state (but without the massive energy drain)
