Aw, what a group! They were the first group that started me on the road to love dancing when I was young. I would imitate their moves. What a voice Paul Williams had. Man I miss those days....
Love the transitions in this version! Paul tore it up! Maaaaannnnnnnn! Paul's solo walk steps are ridiculous! The fact that he doesn't get caught up in that cord is more amazing! What girl wouldn't let a man lead when he has the convictions that this song speaks to - security!
also on the live version of i want a love i can feel the live versions had al bryant but wen david came he had the solo on it aswell.............its on the temptations live album tha only one david appeared on
Paul shows why he was the main choreographer, Mr. Williams was without the best dancer, and my favorite Temptation, in addition to being a great singer.

Check Paul out. "walk on". He is jammin. "Just put yo hand in mine". He breaks it down especially after that second spin and he say"walk". gone Baby. "Im the one who loves ya"
he was the first person to do it on national tv but he did not invent it he did like all other great people do he takes from someone before him and makes it his with his own style.
because of that man right there MR PAUL WILLIAMS and the little shuffle move he does michael jackson said he took that move from paul williams and another from jackie wilson and who else the god father of soul and you have the moon walk
@sheddski you have absolutely no idea of what you're talking about. MJ learned the MW from Jeffry Daniels...stop making up stuff that can be easily disproved with a little research...MJ did NOT invent the moonwalk...its a move revived by inner city youth from the days of Bill Bailey...
It was reported that Paul Williams didnt like bein in the limelight, didnt like a lot of atteniton.Just the opposite of Davod. As great as David and Eddie were,I think that Paul had the best voice. You could actually feel the pain in his voice.
@Davids508 He certainly didn't shy from the spotlight. He was the original lead singer, he put together the moves, and he was the heart and soul of The Tempts. He got this song written for him because David and Eddie were getting the leads so Paul spoke up saying, "S**t, I can sing too!" So, Smokey wrote this song and it became the closing number on almost all of the Tempts live acts. He even took over singing "My Girl" after David's departure. Believe me, Paul loved the spotlight.
@terrybigteekemp Wow really? he seems like somebody who didnt play no games and
knew his worth. I love Paul...very sad how tragically he died. He died on my birthday 23 years before i was born and that shocked me cus he's one of my fav's in the group. forever missed
this guy paul williams had the moves and the coolest guy too bad trouble came his way it was told michael jackson took his moves and jackie wilson,s and came up with his own version from combining them both smart kid .
see...even tho they rehearsed..the only solo was suppose to be paul..and the back up is only suppose to be a whole voice...not suppose to hear another voice or an individual voice over the back up...i know after the show they spoke to david said hey man tone it done stop tryna take the lead..dats why they fired him..he just had to be the only star of the group..he was fired exactly one year after this smh.. u cant hear any of da otha voices..he's da only one ya hear clearly..dat david..i luv him
@morejoeful Ur irrelevant. Totally outside of what I said. And its not a proper quarted due to the fact that ur not suppose to hear one man from the back quartet over the others. They should be all evenly equalized in vocals with just one lead which is the 5th guy, Listen or watch the video again and u ll see. Anotha member in the group dat has been lead in otha songs is overdoing it. In this case Mr. Ruffin over Mr. Williams.
This is now one of my favorite songs by the Temptations I have always loved Paul anyway and the man was getting down forreal on this!!! I love when he says just put your hand in mine!
Check out how this classic turns gangsta @ the :49 point. Paul kills it! And, the rest of the guys are straight steppin' in the background along with singing tight background vocals!! Motown should have produced another version with this smooth, gansta, dance vibe. I think it would have been a smash hit.
Never seen a live version of this. Killer moves all around. A great thing about Paul Williams' singing was that he would enunciate his words so you could understand every word.
