Sigh too many first person shooter players on the net.... the disturbance of the tree is caused the by violent rapid expansion of the gunpowder as its ignited. inside the barrel its contained behind the projectile. once the bullet exits the barrel the gasses exit in the direction of least resistance (ie in all directions). This is known as the muzzel blast. This is also what causes the loud bang (report) of the weapon as these hot gases colide w colder. suppressors cool gasses as they leave.
