What many black women need to realize that you can save a lot of money by just growing your own hair. That way when you go to the salon you will only pay a minimum of $45 to get a wrap style or something.

Yes, its a different texture, but if it's done properly 'afro' like hair won't be seen. A lot of black women with weaves actually do have "healthy natural hair" underneath. It stays that way by keeping it tucked away and using damaging techniques on the weave. It's not a crime to want to look different.

I did get hot combs until I got a perm when I was 9, and all heat is just as damaging. It's not my fault people treated you terribly. Once again not representative of an entire race. In fact thats why they have to weave To allow their natural hair to grow I was never taught to 'hate' my hair. I don't know anyone that is. From my experience, parents hold off on perms until it is almost impossible to comb the childs hair.
