I used to pick up a couple of the guys from the band while they were hitchhiking to West Marin because they didn't have a car. I also did a couple of concert posters for them back in the day. Too bad they never took off and it's also too bad that neither of their albums truly captured how good they were live.
Love both those albums. And why the hell hasn't anyone (i mean lance montoya) done a claymation video for the Hillbilly Happy Smash. I swear I had that dream tripping one night. The 80's in the bay rocked.
I bumped into Paul "Mushi Mu-Moo" the drummer last summer, but haven't heard from him since. We talked a little about the band, the break up and a about our days at Tam high together. Those guys along with bands like "Protein" will be missed by those who loved watching them live.
In case anyones interested, Thats the legendary Dick Dale playing all the Surf Leads on this song. I think he should put this on one of his Compilation CDs.
I was in my 20's and living in San Francisco when they were around...mid to late 80's. Went to quite a few of their shows there. I don't spot Atom Ellis in here (bass player). Was he still in the band in '91 when this video was made? He was my bass teacher and taught me to read music.
This takes me back! I remember seeing The Pus at The Dock/Nightbreak/Berkeley Square in 89'and hearing Atom belt this out on his bass. Thanks for posting this!
I remeber seeing "The Puss" @ The Edge in Palo Alto. Some southbay dork punter in his KOME t-shirt kept throwing cheap shots from the side so I pushed him out in the pit.Security kicked ME out! They're like "this is a modern rock club-people slam dance blah blah blah-if you cant handle it....."I told 'em "fuck you dont tell me about slaming-I grew up going to D.R.I. shows!"They let me back in.Later we took Mr. Southbay punter out!Good times-The Puss rocks!!
really weird to see this! that's me with the long blond hair playing guitar... the insanity behind the scenes is what i remember. howdy y'all that made comments, whoever you might be. Thanks for coming to the shows!
anyone remember going to the shows in Guerneville when we'd all pile in Snoopy's "Limo" (that 1950 hearse with a mattress in the back) then all party afterwards at Gretchens house in Monte Rio?
@agoisgod Whatever happened to Snoopy and his friend Chris (the blond girl from Tiburon) and everyone? I stopped by the Trieste for a couple of days hoping to bump into a few people but I only saw Arthur the poet. It would be really nice to touch base again. Those were the best days of my life!
man oh man i musta seen like hundreds of these guys shows, what a blast...huge would have me carry some bit of equipment in then i would get my hand stamped...I was at that kennel klub show..WHACKED on X ..bad but they played in San Rafael after that,....like 60 kids showed up...was sad...fun days tho, omfg fun days
I used to pick up Atom and Paul when they would hitchhike to their rehearsal space out in West Marin because neither of them had a car and I did a bunch of concert posters for them before they got signed. Good to finally see a Psychefunkapus video and with Dick Dale on guitar too!
Wow. A blast from the bast. I always had fun at Psychefunkapus shows. I remember the last one, I think it was at the Kennel Club. Thanks for posting this.
OMG! Thank you for posting this video. I have been looking for this for a very long time. I had this on cassette. Now if only they did one for the song "Hillbilly Happy Smash".

I remembered hearing this song on the radio back in the day. I kind of liked it back then. Like a hard rock punk take on the beach boys. LOL

What became of these guys?
The Omni, Kennel Klub, Nightbreak, and the I-Beam!!! All Great times when this band would converge.

Awesome band! I listen mostly to Thrash, but this band is really great - one of my favourites!

This song makes it all too clear that Psychefunkapus were feverishly taking notes when RHCP's song "Subway To Venus" came out a few years earlier.

Sorry - the PUS never directly copied any other Band, including- the RED HOTs.
This song was written in 85, and was performed years before getting onto the CD. FACT!
