Penn State had a very solid team in 1992, but their final record of 7-5 didn't show it. After losing a heartbreaker to Miami, many of Penn State's seniors packed it in and stopped playing hard. In fact, for the rest of the season, this was one of the only times Penn State came ready to play and played hard. Still, even here, they couldn't make things happen down the stretch. Hats of for Notre Dame for doing exactly that!

i was there. it snowed hard during the 2nd and 3rd qtrs. at the stadium. in the end it was scary for ND. one thing i will never forget is in the parking lot how one penn state fan came up to me and said "man, what a good game we had today". this man has no idea how many years have passed that i learned a new respect for joe paterno and his program. my oldest son calls him "the old man". i say "you got it right buddy"! i may be upset if he's not coaching at 90.

Ohio State was overrated which USC proved when they blew them out big time, MSU is a tough team if you play them within the first 6-7 games of the year, after that they fade just like they do every year. The main reason OSU got blown out is because their running back Beanie Wells was injured. It would've been a much better game. Penn State was an independent and joined the Big Ten, so scheduling became an issue. Another great match-up that was a casualty of PSU's move to the B10 was Pitt.

Notre Dame was #8 and Penn State was #22 at the time of the game.

Rocketshark, These are schools with great academic and athletic traditions. There are no names on their uniforms, no buckeyes on the helmets, they wear plain black shoes and play on grass. They are what is best about collage football. This was between great teams in a game that looked like a throwback to an earlier time. It was a hard to lose but it was fun to watch. PSU and ND have teed it up 19 times and the record is 9-1-1. I was sorry to see the series end. Thank you for posting this.

I was at the game and sat in the last row of the north end zone field seats. Hannah Storm sat next to me and my five year old for much of the game. The video doesn't really show how treacherous the field was, especially in the second half. It was a half frozen sponge. The mob scene on the field after the game was frightening for me with my five year old. A female student helped me get my five year old to safety! All you can say is that it was a great, great game.

I was in the field seats for this game, and you can see me in the video at the end when people are piling on the team. (Before the stadium expansion, ND had bleachers below the brick wall that went right up to the edge of the end zone.)

It was a crap game from our perspective! We were at field level and all of the scoring drives were at the other end of the field. But we got two great plays at the end that made up for it.
