MD Geist is a classic example of 80's OVA. It's no different to watching a cheesy film. You know what you're in for and what you're going to get. It owes it's entire negative reputation to the fact that it was sold as something it wasn't.

MD Geist is terrible, no doubt about it, but not the worst anime by a longshot. MD Geist had some ok action moments and the sequel was actually somewhat enjoyable.

And yeah, this song is very silly, but fits the silly tone of the anime perfectly.

@Qingy123 Your nostalgia googles are too thick. M.D. Geist was a terrible show and you're only giving it praise because it was made in the 80s. There is nothing wrong with anime shows now, the only difference is that they're hardly making your tastes of anime anymore because it's just not as profitable. I for one find it quite relaxing to watch such "moeblob" shows and find them to be a lot better than the pretentious, pesudo-meaningful shows that you're praising.

@pureshadows Guess I wouldn't say that modern anime is total fail, but there were definitely some gems from the '80s. But alot of it comes down to preference; for instance, I prefer hand drawn to digital in terms of style, I liked '80's music in general better than contemporary (though there is still plenty of good stuff now). I also liked the '80's mecha and ideas of future tech. It was fun, off the wall at times, but I enjoyed it.

But at the same time, plenty of modern anime is pretentious and so many anime still end up with some half baked conclusions with thinly veiled morals/philosophy thrown in, usually some existential mumbo jumbo that just doesn't fit with much of the earlier portion of the series in any non contrived way. (As an anime fan, my largest complaint with anime is that frequently they can't seem make a decent ending.)
