Bartman got a Bum Rap on this!!! First of all; there's NO guarantee that Moises Alou would have caught that ball (Alou's gold glove total=0). And second; I seem to recall that the CUBS had a HUGE lead in this game. By the way; I'm a baseball fan who lives in seattle.
I wonder what some of these rabid cub's fans would do if there were a real tragedy in their midst. I mean the reaction to this is so over the top that it seems to me that they are quite sheltered.
That's the Cubs fans for ya. We blow things out of proportion because we need to place blame on something, like a stupid black cat. I don't necessarily hate Bartman, and my initial comment was in jest, but this isn't the same as some obligatory curse-related incident. This isn't some stupid black that that plays into some spooky superstition, this is fan interference. If it wasn't Bartman it would have been someone else. You know you can't go after balls like that.
@beesneazy I feel sorry for Bartman. Apparently he's fallen off the face of the earth or rather gone into seclusion. I wish he could live out a normal life. It's tragic.
@copperpaint He lives a normal life. That's the great thing, he wore a hat and most of him was covered. Tell me, if you saw Steve Bartman walking down the street right now, common cloths, no hat, how would you know its him?
Lol I love you bartman(no homo) thanks to you Miami has a new stadium! The house that bartman built! Lol 1908 lol billy goat lol cubs stadium is a dump watch out for the falling bricks what a joke!
You fools in Florida don't even know how to properly rep a Baseball team, so I'm not going to take anything you say about Wrigley seriously. You can only dream of having a Baseball team with such history, and no, you're one time fluke-ass-early-franchise WS title doesn't count.
The Giants, look at how they rode a successful, flawed run into the PS and beat N.E. They weren't the better team, as a whole, but won. It's like a fluke WS run. This happens in sports, so be real.
@beesneazy Actually, we have two World Series wins, and all in my lifetime. When was the last time you personally saw a Cubs World Series game? Never!!!
And yes, we have had problems...but we now have a proper baseball stadium of our own, Ozzie Guillen as our manager, and for the first time ever we will have a decent payroll and proper talent. So I suspect we will have a 3rd World Series win long before you ever see your Cubs get another.
You all need to stop responding to applecrisp..he/she has posted comments like this on almost every bartman video...he/she is just looking for any attention...
@AppleCrisp233 Dude, if you're trying to be funny it's not working. You're either very high or very stupid to be writing crap like this. Remember that Bartman was a Cubs fan. At that moment he responded like any fan would when a baseball is hit into the stands and they have a chance to catch it. I guarantee he wasn't hatching some conspiracy in his head when the ball was heading towards him.
@AppleCrisp233 You're a moron. People like you are why the entire country doesn't feel the least bit sorry for Cubs fans having to wait over 100 years (and counting!) for a World Series title. Anyone could have a bad century, right MeV2100?
@AppleCrisp233 Death to The SS With the error? No Death to the pitcher who gave up the runs?No Death to one out of many fans who reached for the ball and cost ONE Out?Yes??? Stupid excuse PLUS Alou might not of caught the ball a true cubs fan wouldn't be mad. I'm a Giants fan we have 1 WS Ring in San Fran and we had the some of the best players (Mays, Bonds, Kent, Tim Lincecum, and more) The cubbies will win eventually
@AppleCrisp233 God all the guy did was get a little excited that a foul ball was coming his way! if he knew that the left fielder was right there I dont think he would have done anything! You probably would have done the same thing in that situation!!! think about how he feels! he is a cubs fan and he has to live with the fact that HE one Person cost his favorite team a trip to the world series.... that is more pain anyone has to endure if he is a real fan.
@ccpp90 "God all the guy did was get a little excited that a foul ball was coming his way! if he knew that the left fielder was right there I dont think he would have done anything"
That's the problem. You see this all too often. Stupid fans / viewers don't understand common protocol. You don't do this with the HOME team. You're sitting on the line, you should know the protocol. You start punching, slapping and pushing fools back to prevent this from happening. It happens too often.
@beesneazy So you're going to tell me that you're sitting there in an NLCS game, one which your team could potentially clinch a pennant, and you're not going to go for that ball. Get off it man, everyone would go for it. That is a rare souvenir/momento. Players have to accept that when they go over the wall they aren't the only ones who want that ball. That's the way it is, and the way it's always been.
@beesneazy i hope you know a foul ball doesn't matter giving up 8 runs does if you're not good your not good look at the Rangers One World seires apperance ever! No reason to blame Steve Bartman For anything
@MeV2100 I hope you know that getting the out in that situation can drastically change the resulting outcome.
I love it when people say things, concerning sport, like "oh if he didn't try to push two on that hit then the next batter's homer would have been a 2 run, thus they would have won the game." You can't say that even if Bartman, or anyone else for that matter, didn't get involved that they would have still given up those runs. Silly sports talk. That's nothing but conjecture.
Went to a cubs came a couple of weeks ago, very nice beautiful stadium. Their is no bad spot in the stadium. I like the bleachers on the houses outside the stadium, you don't realize how real that actually is until you are there.
....Sat in this seat the other day....Wrigley's such a nice ballpark....it's too bad the Cubs just suck all the time....A winning Cubs team would be good for MLB....just a shame that they can never put it together....And the seat is a good seat too....I guess theres really no bad seat in the house....Cubs fans are so used to losing, that they just expect it....It's a way of life for them....It's too bad.... I watched The Yankees kick their asses at Wrigley.
what was the section? i'm going to a cubs game next week and i want to take a picture of it. i caught in the video that it was row 8, seat 13, but i missed the section.
@Extranormaldotcom how's he ignorant? he was just trying to enjoy himself at wrigley and that stupid new york douchebag tried to ruin it by asking him about the seat
I am a Cubs fan and I live in Miami Fl and from what I saw on TV former Marlin player Moises Alou over reacted when he could not catch a foul ball. And besides that look what happened after that the Cubs blew it.
The cubs are the biggest joke in all of the major sports even the Detroit Lions have more respect among franchises Choke and Choke and Choke Sammy Sosa
Even if Moises Alou caught the ball, there's still one more out to end the inning. So how can one play allow 8 unanswered runs? Or a loss in the next game? They might as well blame Steve Bartman if the Cubs don't win the pennant next season.
Unfortunately the Cubs fans have all this bent up frustration over a franchise that sucks no matter how much money they try to pump into the organization. Cubs fans are losers who always act like that annoying child throwing a tantrum in a grocery store. Best just walkaway and ignore, or laugh.
@FSPlata24 When the Cubs win their first championship, they need to have the relative of the goat guy and Bartman come out to the mound and have them yell "The curse is finished!"
It wasn't Bartman's fault. I would have done the same.
